I'm telling you....thats VERY common. The combo of a Dino GT4 and a 400 series car is a natural and a lot of guys have both.

Both are regarded ugly by a lot of (ignorant) people.

VERY ignorant people. Now how can anyone think that this is ugly? (I think this one is yours Dave???)

Personally, I think the 400 is MUCH better looking than the 456, with its heavy looking rear bodywork

One reason the 400i beats the 456 is the damn window frames! I can't stand the nowadays fad of frameless windows. ugh....

Currently I have TRX's which are factory correct for a S2 car.
I do have a set of series 1 15" wheels like on Aidan's 1980 car. I'll be putting those on soon.

Are the TRXs a slightly larger diameter than the 15"? I would think that 16" 308 QV wheels would be the best looking on a 400i....anyone run those? I thought the daily driver New York (marrone) car had them?

Actually, I run the 16" non-abs 328 wheels, but the QV wheels do look more like the factory 400 wheel. I went with the 328 wheels only because they were much less expensive than real QV wheels, and much more real than the fake / repop QV wheels. :)

I put a set of New to me TRX's from Coker. All in all easy and cheap enough in the short run. If I lived where it snowed or planned on driven to some I would be in the market for some wheels.

Styling wise, the GT4 and 400i are very similar. Obviously the proportions are all different, but overall angularity and much of the detail design is of the same ilk. It's the same with the 355 and 456 models, they are also similar in many ways.

But interestingly enough the 308 GT4 is Bertone and the 365GT4 2+2/400/412 is Pinninfarina. And yet, their appeal is quite similar.

So it's likely that the much hated styling of the GT4 has got more to do with the 1973 year than with the Bertone designer after all.... (Think countach, stratos, Urraco)

    Interesting....
