    Hello everyone,

Where would you recommend as a non-rip-off Ferrari mechanic that can do an all fluids change (engine oil, trans fluids, coolant etc...) in the Chicago area?

I just do not want to do it at the dealership that over charges!

    Thanks

Ditto; that's where a lot of us have our exotics serviced.

Phone 847-934-6111. You can tell Patty, Skip & Richard sent you.

Ed doesn't stock it, but he can get it if requested..

You can bring your own, and that goes for parts too. Only diff is, no guarantee on parts & labour if you supply the materials.

Anyone have experience with St Charles Motorsports / A & A Auto Repair for things like this? I see Ferraris there all the time and it's a only a few mins from my house.

I always take my own fluids. Oil, tranny, and brake fluids. Get redline and Super Blue from Northstar motor sport in Barrington. When he did my major, I had ordered the kit from Ricambi and brought it in.

I should have said, if you bring your own parts he doesn't guarantee the parts, but he does guarantee his labour.

Since lots of you seem to use Redline fluids I thought I'd mention that I have 2 cases of 10W30 synthetic, and can't use it anymore because my daily piston-engined car has been replaced by another rotary. Anyone interested at $7.50/qt delivered to a reasonable distance from the northwest 'burbs? The cases are sealed/have never been opened, btw.

    Hi all:

I do not know him and saw his name mentioned in the thread. Does he know old Ferraris (Daytonas, Dinos etc)?
I am always looking for a good local guy when I dont feel like handing my checkbook over to the usual suspects.
Please post or send me a private message his contact information and what people have used him for.

I need someone to remove my Daytona dash (to do the interior), send my shocks back to Koni and rebuild my brake calipers over the winter.

    Thanks.

I would think Ed is more than capable of working on an older car. He used to take car of my 308 (not quite as old). I know he has a couple of old Masserati's there and can rebuild an old Lambo trany.

Ed does all of the work on my cars including the RR. Also, he does work on a friend's 275 GTB and is currently working on an old Mustang my friend bought for his son.

Bottom line, Ed works on everything from hot rods, antiques, classics, exotics and more. The oddest thing I ever saw in his shop was a Zamboni; now that's pretty exotic! :D

    ShawnLambo,

I have used A & A Tires in St. Charles in the past for things I can not do myself. Alex I believe is the owner and seems like a decent guy. David is his chief mechanic who seems to know a lot about F-Cars. I have not had any bad experiences with them.

    Hope this helps.

I use them for my 348, they did the major service on it and also do my fluid changes. They do a great job. I would higly recommend them.

Has anyone heard of Euroquipe LLC in ST. Charles? ( their number is (630) 377-3774) The owner and mechanic is Tim Kautz who supposedly works on Porsches and BMWs. His mechanic is Kurt who supposedly was most recently a senior mechanic at Lake Forest Motor Cars an authorized Ferrari dealer in Lake Forest.

Has anyone heard about their Ferrari expertise and if you would trust them with your car?

    Please let me know.

    Thanks

    Euroquipe in St. Charles.

They have a certified ASE and Ferrari Factory Trained Tech who has worked there for two years.

He had left Lake Forest Sports Cars due to the commute from St. Charles.

I already did. Great guy and a real expert in Ferraris. He clarified a lot of BS that I received from another location when they were doing a PPI. Most of what they claimed was nonsense. So did Al at Al's Affordable in Palatine... both stated the same regarding the other place's BS! As well, both their comments match what the experts on the 348/355 thread had stated.

    Hi Joe,

I didn't know that was you until after the fact. I held the door open for you (I WAS WEARING A fERRARI CAP) while you were leaving Ed's with your shocks.

If I had known it was you, I would have introduced myself.
