One that pops into my mind is that silly foam on the underside of the engine lid - it's just FOAM, and it's $250++ the last time I looked, probably more now.

Pretty good so far, Daniel if ring is expensive wait until the kids come along! That's like going from exotic car maintenance to Jet engine maintenance ;)

Glove box strut gets a + vote - especially when it fails after 6 months.

How about interior parts, paying $379 for the plastic center console that will get sticking is a couple of years is a good candidate!

DAMN!! I Dremel'd my gate down to look just like the slick-shift gate... who knew I grinded off $100 worth of metal!

Nah...the dash pod is reasonable compared to the convertible top (OEM over $11k!) or A/C computer.

    D'oh!

I remember when you had your hoses made. Brilliance!

The OEM route would have been a collosal waste of money.

You know my AC computer seems to be on the fritz, sometimes the fan turns on and off for no reason....I'm dreading actually trying to fix that problem from a $$ perspective....

Don't sweat it. It's easy to fix. Use good contact cleaner and then some "Corrosion Block" or Stabilant 22a on the 6 or 8 point ground connections behind the left air vent and behind the bottom right of the passenger fues panel.
If that doesn't do the trick then you open up the AC computer and apply stabilant 22a directly to each pin and solder point on each of the small circuit boards (might have to resolder any black hot spots, but no big deal).

About $350 to send your AC computer out to be repaired if you don't want to hassle with it.

great! got another winter project to do :) I had applied stabilant to the cable going to the AC computer in the center console, but that did not help. I'll try in these other places.
