Lucky you! The two TRXs that I ordered from Coker last year were several years old when I received them. Nonetheless, it is good to have this source for the original rubbers.

I wish we could get newer runs of these tires, but unfortunately it is out of our hands. Michelin builds them and says that's the newest tires they've got. If you guys need anymore info on these let me know.

What was the build date for your tires? The last 4 digits after the DOT code are the week and year they were made. 3606 = 36th week of 2006. It is only on one side of the tire.

I bought 2 sets of TRX tires (2 tires each time) on ebay. One turned out to be sold from a fellow who lived in my neighborhood. When I contacted him for shipping and gave him my address he said to forget shipping, that he would be at my house in 3 minutes, and he was.

The other set was from someone with the ebay name MustangSally. I paid $200 for 2 new TRX tires with date codes within 12 months. The seller said they had more and asked if I would forward to others at the Fclub. That was about 1 year ago, but still worth checking.

I just bought a set of 328 wheels and will be working the spaced or collar issue next.....

Hans, those are 355 wheels and they would work on a 400i only with massive spacers because of the huge difference in hub offset between the 355 hub and the 400i. I personally love the 355 wheels, but not so much on a 400i. I think the 328 wheels look awesome on a 400.

    Did you get these TRX'S for your qv wheels? Aren't qv's U.S. sized & TRX'S metric?[/QUOTE]

I currently am running the QV wheels with TRX tires, but am replacing with 328 wheels so I can fit standard tires. Keeping the originals for shows.

Alex says QV(repro only?)for us sizing, yet Carl has QV's w/TRX's---Are there different QV wheels out there?

By the way Alex, my 400i is also Marrone---and though the general consensus seems to be black is best/or fastest(even if repainting over a different orig.), I feel the sculpural form is accentuated in a softer way in Marrone(eye of the beholder maybe).

The other option is to use a set of series 1 wheels. These are 15".
There are 2 sets for sale right now, $2k each.

I'm too cheap for for that.

    Adapters $400
    Rims (ebay) $150
    Tires $700

    Total $1,250

Not having to deal with those goofy tires, priceless.

The wheels that are referred to as "QV" wheels (original or repop) are 16", NOT metric / TRX. That being said, some very early 308QVs DID get the 2 valve TRX wheels - this is the source of the confusion, I think.

FWIW, Marronne was my FIRST choice - I think it is the best color for the car (if not the fastest). :)

Quite a set of adapters you got goin' on over there--the wheel face looks like its standing off the rotors quite a bit though---$150. for all four rims??
$100. per adapter, not bad at all!

Yes, I think they worked out just fine. By the way, I'm really proud of my home made center caps. :)

If anyone wants, I can post the drawings for the adapters.

Those spacers are 67mm thick. (2.64")

So out of curiosity, when you use repro QV wheels on a 400i, do you use 8" wide all the way 'round or do you actually put the 7" on the front and 8" on the rear?

I have the Superformance wheels on my 308 and love them, so when the time comes to put new skins on the 400, you can bet that will be my route.

    Cheers,
    Aaron

Same size all the way around---8" if I'm not mistaken.
And the problem w/T. Rutlands is that they generally sell sets of four---2@7", 2@8".

Thanks for the clarification Bruce. I just e-mailed Colin at Superformance to ask if they would sell a set of four 8" wheels for us 400i owners. Will be eagerly awaiting his reply!

    Aaron,
I posted a reply on the Superformance thread, as well as PM you about 400i rim size...Exercised the car this AM, checked the size and verified via owners manual
180X415...approx. 7 1/8" X 16 3/8", I was not sure at the time, so went to the car to verify....Change that order to 7's if you already ordered.
    Bruce
