Indeed, and a beautiful photo David.
An unfortunate race for the likes of Bob Mclean.
Do you have any photos of the 275LM No.33 David?

In the meantime, while we are on Sebring races, here's a few of my old slides from Sebring '58.
Some other interesting shots aswell, although i'm unsure what the cars are or where they were racing. I believe one to be a Siata.
Maybe some of you guys will know the location and cars?

Very cool! The FI P3 rear deck is really a lot different than the 412P humped deck that had to clear the carbs.

    31 is a Sadler, I think

20 is an Arnolt Bristol (Bristol chassis and motor which was a BMW 328 clone) with a Bertone body, dreamed up and sold by SH Arnolt Corp from Warsaw, IN.

    26 is a Siata 1100

29 looks like the last Allard iteration, can't think of the model.

Thanks for the help Erik, spot on with the Sadler. Never heard of it before, but found a nice 8 page article on it, so excellent!!
Still cant find the Allard yet, but it at least gives me a start for research.

This is a recent picture of a 1953 LeMans special that I shot at Amelia Island this year. I know the owner who has meticulously maintained it's original patina.

I don't know if it helps. I have a bunch more shots taken of the car.

    cheers

Thanks for the great picture Ken. Sure do love that original patina.
Looking at the badge on the front of car #29 (albeit i scanned it the wrong way round), it doesnt look much like an Allard badge.
I wont dwell on these pics in this thread as they are not Ferrari related, but thanks for the input.

I came across this one today. Nereo Iori, a NART mechanic is dead center, Dick Fritz is left with white sweater (NART Team manager) and the one and only Wayne Sparling on the right.
I had no idea that Pedro ran with NART livery on a F1 car?

I saw Dick Fritz this winter at a gathering that RPM was having at their place in Vermont and he was wearing that same NART sweater! (Had a NART badge on it and everything.) Hah!

Got to ask him the, what was it like, kind of questions threads like this illustrate so well. He said he was a friend of Coco Chinetti's and knew Papa Chinetti who offered him a job managing the dealership. It paid $20 a week more then he was currently getting so he took it. He had expressed a concern that he didn't know anything about managing a car dealer, he studied to be an engineer, and Chinetti said, don't worry I will be here to oversee you. Week after Fritz took the job Chinnetti went off to Europe to Le Mans and was gone for two months!

    Best,

Please note the obvious lack of shine or luster to the paintwork on the car itself. These cars were not prepared cosmetically to as very high a standard as they are today.

Correct! It was also Rindt's first win, which meant that Denis Jenkinson had to shave his beard!

Notice that Pedro was in a 1969 312/F1 chassis but fitted with the centre-exhaust 1968 engine. The 1969 engine with side exhausts had proved to be unreliable, and Chris Amon found pre-season it was 1 second a lap slower in a back-to-back test with the '68 car at Monza.

In late '69 all the effort, and Fiat's new money, was going into the 312B which wasn't yet race-ready, and Amon had quit the team in disgust.

Pedro was in chassis s/n 017, which is seen at historic meetings; formerly owned by David Livingston.

I noticed that Pedro had the only Ferrari entered and that Amon had stopped driving for Ferrari early in 1969. I just assumed he got hurt. Thanks for straigtening that out.
The same engine with the outside exhaust was used in the 312P Sports Prototypes. Attached is a photo of one of the cars participating in a Can Am race at Bridgehampton which seems to be over matched? I guess Chinetti just wanted the starting money?
