Correct BBi coil, cant see the writing on it from the flash but its there in blue lettering on the silver sticker. Empty hole for the 4 can muffler system it should have on it from new, too bad I cant make it a small compartment for more luggage space. Correct ignition module for my BBi, prefer the MSD internals so thats what it will get when it fries but will look stock. What I believe to be the original wires as they dont look new and they are black Cavis wires. The engine makes the worlds best coffee table IMO. Well, maybe an F1 engine would be better. Dry sump tank unique to the 512's as the 365 is wetsump. The no-longer available foam on the lid that is now falling off mine. DavidB is working on a replacement that hopefully he will sell to me and others that really need it bad. Correct boot struts with FERRARI on them and ball ends to mount them. The carbed cars look like they have nut and bolt fasteners instead on the ends. Cooling ducts in lower side body work direct air to the header area not the brakes. This is a pic of the left rear one. It snakes around the left fuel tank and goes over to the engine. This is a 365 boxer, notice the momo steering wheel with the different bolt pattern. Look at the thickness of the clamshell where it meets the body work ahead of the rear wheel compared to a 512BB or BBi. The lack of a side air intake and no front chin spoiler. Different gas cap, no EQ, standard rims with the same width front to rear, no shield around distributor cap. Wet sump with fill cap in middle of block. I believe the pinch weld beside the back window (seen with the lid open) and the lower drip trough under it should be blacked out, they did do the vent slot though. The one from callchuck demonstrates the major difference in the rear from a 365 to a 512. This one being a very early 365 but has aftermarket suspension and 512BB rear rims. The next 2 and 3rd are a 79 512BB in europe and has a steering wheel like my 82 but plain aluminum and its a carb car. Anyone else have one like this? Yes, yours is a (correct) plain aluminum momo wheel with solid spokes. The 79 I posted has a plain nardi wheel with slots. The nardi is supposed to be black and on an injected boxer, mondial or 308 of the same year (81,82, etc) so my hunch is its wrong for the 79 boxer. Are you missing the brief case tool kit Steve? I just noticed the seat belt buckles in the 79 are different than my 82 also you can see the diffeerence in the console from injected to carbed, no horsie on the carbed console nor does it have carpet ahead of the shifter, the differences seem endless.
The first 2 shots are of 42507, the car before mine in boxer production. They went to 2 very different markets and lead very different lives. The converted bumpers dont look too terrible but do protrued a little more than the original euro versions. The additional markers thankfully we put in the bumpers so they can be easily removed by (in this case) replacing the bumpers with euro ones. The car also has hex nuts rather than spinners. I wish I had a pic of the door edge to show the crash bar plate for DOT requirements. The last one I saw in person with crash bars left a lot to be desired in the install department. Anyone have a pic to show the crash bar end plates? The 3rd one is a friend of mine's car, its an 84 euro non-converted but has hex nuts, the correct wrench and mallet for them and we assume it came that way from new (unsure of the market but it came through switzerland to canada). The console lacks the horsie but has the bump under the carpet where one could be placed and it looks original and untouched. Did the original owner eliminate it during assembly? This car also has the briefcase tool kit and the TR wheel. 4th pic is an odd additional belt buckle in an 82 Euro car, has one on each side. The only thing I can think of is a quick change from a 5 point harness to the regular shoulder belt. Any ideas? Here are some shots of my BBi manuals, the black 12 cylinder manual also comes in brown, not sure why. The EQ manual is correct for my 82 with the 5 band version. I need the radio manual though but at least I have the radio . My car also has the small clear inspection stickers on the mirrors, wasnt sure what they were for until recently in another boxer thread. oooops, here is my 19" spare which is correct for the BBi and the 365BB, the 512BB takes an 18" and I mixed that up earlier I think. I double checked my manual to make sure. Also the rear tire which is the same size as the front but the rims are different front to rear. The latest BBi on ebay has them mixed up, the fronts are on the rears and vice versa, looks goofy. Im missing my spline hub and stainless ring but thats no big deal as they are available and Ill never use the spare anyway. Lastly the emergency triangle and case that fits in the spare tire well with the jack kit. BBi jack kit with tow hook, mallet for the spinners (hex nut cars have a wrench you hit with a mallet and im told its a different size hammer than the spinner one but not sure). Spare fan belts, 3 for the BBi, spark plug socket, lights and fuses in the container. Dont exceed 150kph with this weenie spare tire - OK! BBi tool kit from in front of the rf wheel well. The outer pouch matches the interior colour, the 365BB, 512BB and 84 BBis had the brief case instead of the matching pouch. Im sure that isnt carved in stone, maybe a late BB got a pouch when they ran out of cases, who knows? I know my 82 is supposed to have the pouch. There is a horse in the center of the tan outer pouch which is hard to see as its just an impression. Tool kit contains spare plugs, mine were wrapped in wax paper which Im not certian is correct. Here is the trouble light in the little bag with spare lights and another fuse. The crank but no bag, didnt know they had one unless thats the bag for a replacement crank? Where do you keep the crank? Where do you keep the trouble light? The 3rd and 4th pics are of this mystery box that I still dont know its purpose is, possibly some radar device from the 80's. It plugs into a female socket beside the trouble light socket under the dash. Yes of course i should have known. Here is a good shot of a 512BB vs a 512BBi, ignore the fact that the BBi lights are moved inboard, they would still be exposed on the BBi. The muffler can shot is from an 84 BBi, you can also see the texture on the inner fender that is different in the 84, its more consistant and looks better than an 82 or even a 79 and a 365BB. I wish my 82 had this better look. This is also the full leather option with the original stock seats, no cloth insert in door pockets and it has a leather headliner rather than cloth.
