What was it? I just moved on from a 95 Civic hatch, to an 03 Maxima SE and it was quite the jump. It's got everything the Civic didn't, and I like it. The GF wanted to just replace the Civic and get a Yaris but I convinced her to move up a couple steps. I wonder what I'll get next hehe
'97 pontiac sunfire to a 2000 chevy malibu, not much of a jump, but now i actually get up to 60 mph before im getting off of the highway
went from a 1971 Fiat 850 Spider to a 1971 Alfa Romeo 1750 Spider in 1978. That Alfa Spider would still beat 90%+ of all the cars on the road today for smiles per mile....
My first good car was a 1993 1.6L Nissan Sentra (E Model). For maintenance it uses a timing chain. Got excellent gas mileage (usually 33+). Excellent leg and head room for both front and back. No one would ever want to steal it. It has a DOHC, so when you step on the gas it moves, and with better tires it handles excellent for an econo box. Every friend I loaned the car too ended up wanting to buy it. One friend even leased it from me for a year. If your looking for a used car I recommend reading this site. seems very accurate. http://www.carsurvey.org here is the nissan info. Check out the 91-94's. Great car for the kids first car, or even if your looking for a commuter. I dont think there is 1 bad post yet. http://www.carsurvey.org/model_Nissan_Sentra.html
Well, my very first car was a spanking new Mercedes CLK320 (in '98), so all my other cars were pretty much at the same level.
I had an 1987 Mustang GT with Flowmasters. It was the first year with fuel injection. I was the **** back in high school with that car. I'll never forget. I had a Ford Mustang GT ad on my wall for that year that said "225 Ponies are Bound to Kick Something" ...And my insurance was $400 a month.
I went from a 94 Pontiac Grand Am to a 94 Honda Accord EX with every option. It was about 10 times better than the Grand Am.
Went from a 73 pinto with a "Do not block, Fire exit" sticker on the door to a brand new 85 ford ranger pickup. Dropped in a 86 Mustang 302 engine. That's what made it good. Once raced and beat a mustang on the way home from the lumber yard with 7 sheets of plywood in the back. I'm an old fart too!
I went from a 1997 Jeep Wrangler with plenty of mechanical problems to a reliable and fun 2001 Mazda Miata LS.
Well...my first car was my moms old 1992 Ford tempo, fully loaded-then I bought a '72 mustang when I moved to AZ then I bought a 200 Mustang GT and modded the hell out of it-so either one of those would be my first 'good' car depending on how you look at. I still have both Mustangs.
1966 Lotus Cortina Series I SE. White with a BRG flash & Lotus badges on grille & rear flanks. 115 hp Lotus-Ford twin-cam with dual Webers. It must have been one of a very few in California; never saw another one on the road. The Lincoln-Mercury dealer in Santa Barbara had it in their back warehouse; I don't think they knew what it was or how to sell it. Adored everything about that car. Allowed my wife to sell it when I was in Vietnam three years later and we needed the $s. Wish I had it today.
