i have it on my 355..made little difference.

i put it on a boxer i had...transformed it! i did it in such a way that the car looked and sounded the same..it was quite clever of me, really.

the not kidding comment was to what 360C said about Gil not liking the motec, which is, of course, total rubbish!

I'm happy that Bob asked about EFI on older cars, gives me an excuse to post this shot of "period" injection. Its a works Fiat Abarth 131 from the 1977 World Rally Championship season. This is the only engine that could keep a Ford BDA honest. I think its a work of art and it made a noise that sends shivers down your spine!

    nah...sorry.

i put the injectors in the inlet manifold under the carbies. pulled the guts out of the carbies and made an insert to go from the top of the carby to the little platform...sorry...no idea what the bits are called.

so it looked and sounded exactly like normal, but started and ran (hot and cold) in a way that you wouldn't believe!

the oil radiator looks horribly exposed to slight front end damage Ian ?

I think someone put one of these motors in a 124 sport for rallying up here in Qld (Chez Moteur ?? ), anyway was a long time ago and he said it was putting out 240 horses .... wishful thinking ??

Rally cars usually roll rather than hit things. The 131 had a very good finishing record and of course won the world chamionship in 1977, 78 and 80.

The engine easily made 240hp. It eventually got to 400hp when supercharged in the Lancia 037 and 550hp (with a smaller block) in the Delta S4.

Greg Carr's Abarth is still around, not sure who owns it today. A few replicas have been copied from it, but none with Abarth engines.

You can buy replacement throttle bodies straight off the shelf these days.

    www.jenvey.co.uk

They make a neat range of DCOE, DCNF, IDA, etc clones for converting to injection.

The big variable in any injection system is the nut behind the keyboard. Otherwise, it'll beat carbs/dizzys hands down anyday.
