Few good cars if you look around

The stand by fox body stang, MR2 (the baby 360 looking one), miata, E30 etc. Look around and see what you like.

It would have to be an M3....When it comes to racing I need the visuals along with the performance. If im tracking...I want retro paint, I want people to say...hell yeah! M3 + Jager...sounds tempting yet pricey

    just for track or competition?

If you want to learn how to drive well get the lower powered Miata. Also better for competition.
If you are a decent driver already and are looking just for the track toy, get the BMW. Don't know if you can get those for that budget though.

Used spec miata was going to be my suggestion.

But make sure you can cover the running costs as well as the purchase price.

    Edit:

Contact F-Chat user: Dr Who (he tracks a spec miata)

Here's his spec miata thread: http://www.thebestemployee.com/forum/showthread.php?t=100128&highlight=spec+miata

Do you have access to a trailer/hauler?

You can get an ITA/ITB/ITC for under $10k that is in good shape and won't require much work. If you want a street car to track then a Miata is certainly up there, I'd also say a CRX Si or Civic Si (older pre 91) would be a cheap trackable toy.

I am inclined to agree with "fbb", on the Sprites. The Midgets and Sprites can be a lot of fun, and the performance parts are readily available at reasonable prices. I'll add MGBs to the list, you can usually find an already prepped example of one of these three cars, with a bit of room under 10K, and still have some $$ to spend on stickers. :)

PS - Ths XJS route may be a bit excessive for the 10K budget, but I do like the way they sound...

Yeah, but I love the looks of a huge car flying around a track....like it should not be possible :)
A used xjs can be had for a few thousand, strip it out, add some Webbers, suspension, tires and paint and away we go!!! haha
