My girlfriend and I are heading up there this weekend to pick up a Weimaraner puppy.

While we were there we were looking for some things to do.

We were going to stay at the Broadmoor, but they seem to be booked this weekend. We'll probably stop by for lunch anyway.

    Any other ideas?

    Thanks.

    1. Drive through Garden of the Gods.
    2. Even though you can't stay at the Boardmoor, have a drink at the Golden Bee.
    3. Visit the Air Force Academy.

Yeah I heard about the Garden of the Gods, might check that out.

How tolerant of a puppy on a leash would the Broadmoor be for lunch?

I'd call to check if there's a policy on pets. It's been a LONG time since I was there, and I wouldn't assume anything. However, I don't see why it wouldn't be alright if you're seated outside. Inside is another matter, I imagine, especially with a young (read that as "not-yet-housebroken") puppy. Also, it may be out of their control if there are local codes that prohibit pets. However, the Broadmoor at one time in its history most certainly accepted pets.

I will probably just call or email them. I haven't been to CO Springs since I was little, and everyone is telling me I must stop by that resort. It's a shame they are booked.

    Maybe they'll have somebody cancel...

Have you ever been to the Cheyenne Mountain Resort or could you recommend somewhere else to stay, since it looks like the Broadmoor won't be an option :(

That's pretty much it. Maybe go through Manitou Springs and Old Colorado City, too. They are at the end of the drive through Garden of the Gods.

    Thanks!

I pretty much want to book everything tomorrow, so we don't run into any problems.

The puppy will already be keeping our hands full!

You could drive Pike's Peak. That is, only if it's open. It may be too early in the season.

Those dogs are not stop motion. At least the ones I have ever been around. Have fun!

Definately go to the Broadmoor. Try again to see if any rooms opened up. If not, there is a small boutique hotel in Manitou Springs called Cliffhouse that's nice and has one of the better restaurants in town. I think Pike's Peak is open. I know the railroad tour is open no matter what, but if you're looking to drive up it, call first. Garden of the Gods is nice to drive through and look at. Good place to walk your new dog as well. Old Colorado city and Manitou Springs have some nice tourist type boutique stores, and the drive up Highway 24 can be nice if you pass Manitou and go into Woodland Park. The Cheyanne Mountain Zoo is also interesting if you're into that stuff. It's right next to the Broadmoor. I think it's the world's only mountain zoo.

Not too much else to do here in Colorado Springs that I can think of offhand.

Good luck. I hope you enjoy it.

Up highway 24 about 5 minutes from Manitou Springs is a small place called Wines of Colorado. Good food and nice setting for lunch. On the left at the one and only light and the entrance to Santa Clause workshop and Pike's Peak.

I'll look them up, I'm not sure where we're going to stay Friday night, or even how far we'll get. This is more for Saturday night.

    They are booked too!

Really, who wants to go to Colorado Springs in the Spring time...

Try the Antlers Adams Mark. It's downtown Co. Spgs.

    Good luck,
