my mom and dad had a forest green 60 something GTO way back when. they had to sell it when the Gov moved them from virginia to alaska
the coolest car my parents have is my evo, because its technically in their name (for insurance reasons only) i doubt they would put up with the racing harnesses and turbo screaming for more than a week
A mid 50's red Ford pickup that he put a chrysler hemi in it. He used a front bumper corner for the frame/engine mounts, built the whole thing for a couple hundred. A tire burning locomotive beast.
My dad used to have a 1970 Ford Galaxie 500. It was a POS but it was still cool. But my moms 1995 Ford Windstar is the coolest of all! not....
'73 Mustang with the big V-8 of that moment, the 302, made about 200 hp, maybe.. Did about a 9 flat 0-60, believe me, I tried to get it to go faster. Otherwise it was a 66 Grand Prix, a baby blue Ford Torino, a Ford Fairlaine Station Wagon, a Chevy Vega GT (Purple). OMG we had some awful cars in the late 60's early 70's. BUT NOTHING FOREIGN, EVER, when my dad was alive for my parents. I had them all beat by '73 I had a 1971 MGB, BRG with camel interior. That was way better than anything my parents ever drove. My Mom, even now, drives a Toyota Echo, and before that a Honda Civic hatchback. They were not car people. DM
what???!!?!?!? are you serious???? im reading the book "Racing the Silver Arrows" right now, and some amazing stuff in there... any more info... you should start another thread just about it if you have enough info....
My dad loved cars, but for whatever reason he was an Oldsmobile man. He always had 4-doors, didn't like the whole 2-door thing. He made an excursion into early 70s Saabs, for some unknown reason (the gas crisis in the 70s, I think) and had a brown 99 that seemed cool to me as a kid. I loved the key on the floor! I bet in 20 years, my son will say that the coolest car I owned was the 512BB. He loves that car..
i will never forget when my dad pulled of of the garage in a brand new 1976 930 turbo....black with black. it was a surprise and i remember my dad asking my brother and me to stand back so we did not see what was he was backing out. i remember seeing the whale tail and i said to my brother, "dads got a turbo!" i still remember the hollow sound and in 76, the 930 was the undisputed king!!!
