A friend of mine recently threw me the keys to his 50th anniversary vette. The car was originally designed for Chevy but they decided to go a different direction for the anniversary model. Enter this company Advanced Automotive Technologies. They purchased the design and have created a limited number of the cars (around 128 by now)

You either love or hate the design. The car is a real eye catcher and a superb driver with a 6 speed hurst shifter. I photographed the car all over Washington, DC a few Saturdays ago then again the following morning by the National Gallery and by the Smithsonian. I had wonderful light which really lite the car up. I have photographed in the past but never was able to catch the car.

Personally, I love the lines of the car, especially the front. With those nearly plontoon fenders and low hood line, shades of the sports cars from the late 50s/60's. The rear is a little strange but it grows on you.

When I got back to his house the next day, he mentioned that he is looking to sell the car for around 95 grand. Tough to put a value on the vehicle but it is different.

    regards

Something multispoke that looked more wire/knockoff-like.

I always thought that the best custom early Corvette would be a 53 front end on a 57 rear end. Those 53 thru 55 tail light pods are just goofy. But I like the slab sided look of the cove-less 53 thru 55 cars. Drop in a 502 big block, drop the pedal to the metal, and get groceries!

Here are a couple more shots of the car.

The last shot with the Washington monument reminds me of a friend who when he turned 40, purchase a white vette convertible. Another good friend of mine called it his p#nis gourd. I'm going to send him this photo as a reminder.

    cheers

Very nice photos for sure. That car is not really my style, as I prefer my 50th Anniv. much more, even though it may be not as unique.

Those are STUNNING photos, but I can't say I admire the car's aesthetics. Nevertheless, you're a hugely talented photographer.

I've been photographing cars for the last 30 years but only started to take it seriously for the last 3.

Check out these photos of this Ferrari and see how the headlights and hood line are I think somewhat simular to the vettes'

Nice photos and good for looking around at the background and reflections (biggest mistake most folks make is not paying attention to surroundings) also good use of light (dusk is the charm)

The car, however, looks ghastly to me. I remember seeing it when they first started and thought it looked like a bag of parts flying in loose formation. that said you did well making it look as good as you did.

Ken, great shots. I remember seeing this (or one of these) at SEMA a few years ago. It took me a while to appreciate the car and I had to stare at it for some time. The design details are spot on and it was done correctly IMO. It isn't my taste but I really dig it.

I have always like the execution and detail of that car, but I don't think I would have selected the styling cues of the 1953 model.

As noted above, nice photos. but please tell me this is some kind of joke. That's NOT really the 50th anniversary Corvette, is it?

    Seriously. Is this Candid Camera?

Not much different than how it left the factory .. It's the rear tail lamps that I think are so tasteless.

Oddly enough the tail lamps don't bug me too much, they somewhat blend in with the general styling ... it's just that front end that seems sooo heavy to me.
