Is there a 365 gt 2+2 North American registry ? Also how many of the 801 365 gt 2+2 are probably still running on the road ?

there is not - I promised to create one awhile back - not nealy as nice as Kerry's 330 registry, but at least a database dedicated to 365GT2+2s. Bill Preston, keeper of the 250GTE registry, was also nice enough to indulge dozens of my questions about creation and maintenance of same and sent me a copy of his registry. I have lots of scraps of queen info, but all of my spare time lately has been working on 0556(0446)MD to try to have it ready for the 2006 FCA National here in Virginia.

It is still my intention to create and maintain a queen mother registry. Some of the telaio nuts (I mean that in a good way) who have been tracking Ferraris in general for years - Edvar van Daalen comes to mind - probably already have as close to a registry for our cars as you will find at the present time.

As to your second question - my best guess is that between 400 and 500 queen mothers are still in one piece and are either running or at least viable. This is based on the best guesses of the keepers of the 330 3+3 and 250PF coupe registries on the survival rate of those cars - similarly "unloved" makes of vintage Ferraris.

I would guess the number of queen mothers would be higher than that-- the 250s and 330s were often used as the basis for rebodies, but the queen doesn't seem to be a very popular donor candidate.

This appears to be a really old thread -- but I'm trying to locate a 365 that belonged to my wife's father when he died in 1974. If there's a registry, it may be a great start for hunting this car down. Is there a 'current' registry?

I wish i knew. Since i only have a license plate, i dont know how to find the VIN. But that's what I'm looking for since I otherwise have no idea how to know the car was her father's actual 365. How can I match an old license plate to a VIN?

    1. Contact your Dept of Motor Vehicles to see if they still have a record of the plate or Dad's name. If so, they will be able to come up the S/N.
    2. Search Dad's papers to see if there is any reference: maybe a copy of the title or something, or a record of from whom he bought or to whom he sold it. Just detective scut work.
    3. If you can find the S/N, post it here and the chances are good that someone will know the car.

What's more interesting is I found and bought this engine in 2014 from Alex Harwick (in Alabama), who owned 275 #08087 back in 1974. No clue though how he came about to owning this block...weird? (he honestly couldn't remember)

On the interno, I'll have to check. It's obvious why it was ditched though from the hole in the cylinder (the engine in that car now should be a plain unstamped 365 block from the factory if I was told the correct info a few years ago when researching).

A 1750 is the internal engine block number and all important.
Get in touch with the owner of the car in the UK (here on fchat) and have this engine re-united with the car.
    Mid-/long-term matching numbers is important.

I reached out to him. We’ll see what happens.

    Thank you Marcel

@Marcel Massini would it be ok to PM about value? Since it’s just a bare block, I’m unsure on a correct “range”
