Boudewijn, the pictures i have of 15297 (probably from Mike Sheehan's website) show the interior as being all black... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Well, if the history cited above is correct then 15297 can't be the car we are looking for. If Roger Sherman was indeed the original owner, and I have been told that Art Miller got the car from Roger Miller, then the history of the car as supplied by Armen rules out 15297!
Wow, I didn't intend to make this so difficult! Now I REALLY want to know, WHERE IS THIS CAR TODAY!!!! Thank you all for helping. Is this a mystery car???? I would beleive this is the original color??? In the pictures the car is 5 years old. We bought the car in 1975 making it 3 years old. It must have been original. Unfortuneatly all we have is the color to go by.
You guys know much more about this than I do - what is the reason that Armen's car couldn't have been 16455? Is it known that Mr. Lanvin (?) owned the car from 1972-1991, or is it just known that he owned it in 1972 and someone else owned it in 1991, with no known history in between? Seems strange that at least four "owners" are known on Armen's car (dealer in Nyack, Armen's father, Hamilton, and Haratounian) but no one can firmly associate any of these names with a particular serial numbered Daytona Spyder.
NNO yes I've check it out before. No luck. I will E-mail Paul maybe he could help! Please nobody give up on me now!!!! Lets get to the bottom of this "Mystery Car".
Alright I need more resources but lets go through as many spyders as we can rule out and then we will at least narrow down the search. Armen's car couldn't be 16915 16223 16895 16903 14553 15297 16455 Everyone keep adding to the list and eventually we will get it!!! Erik
How about this site. http://www.barchetta.cc/english/All.Ferraris/summary/SN.365.GTS4.Daytona.Spyder.htm
Erik, i think the last thing we want to do is ADD to a list... Gerald had it narrowed down to about six cars... 15297 seemed like the best match, but if the history posted on 15297 is true, then it's gonna pretty tough to figure out...
Carb the car can't be 15297 due to the history of owner's!! It also can't be one of these 90 1. 14365 2. 14371 3. 14373 4. 14373 5. 14383 6. 14387 7. 14389 8. 14359 9. 14403 10. 14415 11. 14463 12. 14465 13. 14469 14. 14471 15. 14537 16. 14547 18. 14557 19. 14563 20. 14565 21. 14605 22. 14671 23. 14699 24. 14737 25. 14739 26. 14761 27. 14779 28. 14813 29. 14823 30. 14829 31. 14857 32. 14913 33. 14993 34. 15179 35. 15239 36. 15277 37. 15297 38. 15369 39. 15383 40. 15429 41. 15525 42. 15535 43. 15579 44. 15593 45. 15687 46. 15841 47. 15845 48. 15909 49. 15911 50. 15917 51. 15919 52. 15939 53. 15963 54. 15969 55. 16223 56. 16451 57. 16463 58. 16465 59. 16467 60. 16473 61. 16475 62. 16497 63. 16545 64. 16549 65. 16689 66. 16697 67. 16835 68. 16839 69. 16847 70. 16857 71. 16859 72. 16895 73. 16901 74. 16903 75. 16911 76. 17013 77. 17039 17045 78. 17047 79. 17051 80. 17053 81. 17055 82. 17057 83. 17059 84. 17061 85. 17063 86. 17065 87. 17067 88. 17069 89. 17071 90. 17073
That only leaves like 30 others So Carb what kind of info do you have on the other vins not listed. Erik
i don't know, but when Gerald went through them, he narrowed it down to six... i'm pretty sure it has to be one of those six... Are we absolutely certain that the history on 15297 is correct...?
The cars I originally narrowed it down to were six cars that I knew had been redone in black/tan. But the known history eliminated four of them. But there was a seventh car that started out gray/red. So I wound up with three candidates: 14857. Originally giallo fly 20-Y-191. But offered for sale in 1974 in TX described as silver-gray with red leather. Alleged to have been sold 1974 to Horace Hull II, Memphis, TN. Then offered Feb 1978 by Motor Cars d'Elegance, Santa Ana, CA. Light charcoal gray with burgundy interior. Blaupunkt Berlin stalk radio/cassette. Next offered Jul 1978 by Stutz Motor Car Co., Los Angeles, CA. Black with tan interior. 12,000 miles. Lots of subsequent history. 15297. Originally grigio ferro 106-E-8 with rosso 3171 interior. No early history known until 1986 when Art Miller, Miami, FL acquired it from Roger Sherman of Florida. Some claim Sherman was original owner. Then offered offered Dec 1986 by MDR Enterprises, Santa Monica, CA. Black with tan interior. Lots of subsequent history. 16455. Originally grigio ferro 106-E-8 with rosso 3171 interior. Owned 1979 -198? by Jerry Siemons, Beverly Hills, CA. Offered 1983 by Walt McCune, Modena Imports, West Hollywood, CA. Red with black interior. Zero miles on rebuilt engine. Then Nov 1991 at "The Auction", Las Vegas, NV. Described as gray with red interior. Lots of subsequent history.
14857 is 100% the car!!!!!!! My father owned Motorcars in Santa Ana in 1978. I am SO SORRY I left that part out. I actully forgot! The search is over 100%!!!!!!! Thank you SO MUCH! Is there any history I can have e-mailed to me please??? [email protected] Gerald, I appreciate ALL you help and your time!!! Thank you everybody for helping!!!!!! Another mystery solved!!! That makes my day. MERRY CHRISTMAS to all.
Another VERY INTYERESTING STORY!!!!! How Ironic is this, Monday I had lunch with Jerry Siemons & my father. We were talking Ferraris (how could you not!) I told him my favorite Ferrari was a Daytona Spider. He went off telling my he had a very rare color Daytona Spider. DARK SILVER/BURGANDY interior!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I flipped out!! NO WAY! I told him the story about this thread. How I was searching for my old car. The years I owned it and so on... He owned his car for 12 years but overlapped the years my father owned his. So He was going to call me back on his VIN#. He thought it was 16XXX, 16445??? 16455. Last night I called him and confirmed his must have been 16455. He agreed. Here is a gentleman i've MAYBE met once 20 years ago (when my father owned Rodeo Coach) ( A whole different story) I'm having lunch with him and this conversation comes up! DARK SILVER/BURGANDY!!!!!!!! ONLY 3 of them! Crazy, Crazy, Crazy!!!!
