I currently own a Remington Microscreen 3, but feel that there should be better shavers on the market. Anyone have any experience with a good shaver? Braun, etc...?

    Thanks in advance!

I think the Micro3 give a superb shave but I will hijack this thread..

Which shaver(electric) gives the best result WITHOUT making me spend $30 on a new foil every 5 weeks!!!!!

I have the Braun Synchro with the cleaning station. I like it. It's been years since I had an electric but decided to try one. Not as good a shave as the new four blade vibra-Mach/Sensor whatevers, but convenient.

those vibrating gillettes are worth trying? i figured the battery schtick for pure silliness - it isn't?

can anybody suggest an electric that works stellarly in the wet, or with some lubricant (someone makes one that uses some nivea stuff?). i've only used dry electrics and my face doesn't like them. my face doesn't like blades either, but the electric sucks more for me.

    doody.

I have the kinetic panasonic. It works well in the wet or dry but I still use a mach3 on my neck, if I don't let that area grow then the electric has no problem. I have had the same results with a braun.

MAN... YOU SAID IT RIGHT ON!!!! I HATE that... I love how close it shaves, but bits of the screen foil keep chipping off and I end up spending another $24.99 on a new set... I paid $90 on it but have spent about $150 on screens in the past two years... I might take a look at the Braun.

Mach 3 Turbo - and most any type of shaving OIL - NOT shaving cream.

If you haven't tried shaving oil before - try it. You will be amazed at the difference between it and shaving cream.

I am a diehard mach3 turbo user. I always shave in the shower after the steam has opened up the pores on my face.

I tried the mach 3 that is battery powered and vibrates, supposedly "stimulating" the hairs to stand up. I think it's cool from a design standpoint, but after a week or two of use, I decided that the shave was not as close, and I kept getting a nick or two. That never happened with the Mach 3's before.

So I stopped switching the thing on when I shave, and used it like a "regular"mach 3. All of a sudden, the shaves got closer and no more nicks.

I have never had to purchase a new foil for my panasonic or braun. I even have the original blades in them and they are still working fine. Just clean them out every now and then.

Mach 3 or Norelco 8894XL (actually getting one off e-bay here in an hr or so).

The problem with the Mach 3 is after the 5th or 6th shave its "hacking" away at hair and hurts like a *****. I'm hoping the Norelco will be a bit longer lived.

I don't have very heavy whiskers, but a mach3 blade lasts at least 2 weeks for me.

I just love the Mach3 Power. (The vibrating one) I can almost go for two days with it.

For a good shave oil, try the "Art Of Shaving" stuff.

If you have a CVS or Eckerd Drugs near you, they both usually have "King of Shaves" shaving oil in stock - it is as good as the others, and easy to get since you can walk in the store and pick it up.

Another very popular oil is from Pacific Shaving Company - http://pacificshaving.com - I haven't personally tried it, but I hear excellent things about it.

Oil is very odd at first. You only need to use 5-6 drops on your entire face - and you won't see anything on your face at all. They key it to keep your face nice and wet and your razor cleaned out. You'll soon see what a waste shaving cream is - and how totally unprotective it really is. Think about it - only the bottom of that huge lather is actually touching your skin - what's the point of the rest of it? And what is touching your skin really isn't doing much to provide lubrication and nick protection.

I was turned on to oil when I started shaving my head. I'll never go back. A night and day difference. A good reference for oil reviews is:

I can't seem to get a close shave from an electric razor so I use blades. I've found the Schick Extreme 3 jobs to be the best bet and they seem to last for quite a while.

Shower shave with Mach 3 Turbo, just Dove/Ivory as a lather. Cream is a waste.

I might get oil if I shave my head again though.
