It seems like someone here was shopping for a GTB recently. http://www.ferraris-online.com/cars/FE-275GTB-07333/main.php
Someone here was pretending they had a GTB/C lately I love the looks of the shortnose, but the improved stability of the long nose probably makes the extra $$$ worth it.
Nice 275 GTB, but I have a question ... what's the white car with the door open in the background of one of the pictures ... 917 Porsche? Best wishes
I'd probably never drive it fast enough for the aerodynamics factors to come into play. If I had the bucks for a GTB I would probably want the 2 cam, 3 carb engine just for reliability and driveability's sake. In other words I'd probably be on the phone with Mr. Sheehan right this moment!
The white car in the background with the door open is a long tailed Porsche 908. They ran the long tailed bodywork at Lemans in 1969. Lost to the GT40... by about 4 seconds or so. Terry
908 would have 15 inch wheels. This car is a 907 and it won the 24hours of Daytona in 1968. 1st 24hour race win for Porsche. It was driven by Vic Elford
No. The car is well known and still raced competitively to this date. I do get to touch it on a regular basis though.
...what a wonderful car, I think the best looking they ever made (next to my 308 of course ).....some day.....
Ah, I must be getting slow in my old age! I just now realized which 275 this is. Sure brings back some memories.
Wow Wayne, that trip down memory lane was a hoot. Before my time, thank goodness. It is interesting to see how much a certain poster has NOT changed. DrTax
Holly cow, that just got my blood boiling again 2 years later! I can't believe Horsefly and Bruce were acting the way they did. I agree we should stick together and protect each other, but sometimes jumping right out of the gate is just rude. Over time we eventually find the frauds, no reason to have a guilty until proven innocent attitude. Everyone knows now that Bill is the real deal and some of those users back then look pretty silly.
The last 275 GTB I had I bought at 13,000 and sold for $15000. If that gives you any clues as to how long ago that was!!! Sold the thing because it blew blue smoke so bad!! Great car though. Nothing like the sound of a V-12 Ferrari !!!!!
Another thing, 2 years later after reading that thread, don't you think the tone of our posts and quality of our communication is better now? I know that's just one thread, but we sounded like a bunch of kids. I personally think this is a more enjoyable place now than looking back then. We also have 7,000 more users than 2 years ago. Amazing
I agree. It was interesting reading that thread. Geeze Louise, doesn't anything on the Internet ever go away? But yes, it is interesting to watch a community, and this is a community, grow and change over time.
Lol! As I'm sure Bill remembers, it was that thread that pushed me to leave F-Chat "for good!" Hey, everyone's entitled to go off the deep end once in a while. (BTW, what was up with Bruce posting in lower case?)
LOL I can't believe you didn't realize which car this was. I recognized it immediately. Wasn't Solly sniffing around this car? Three or four F-chatters expressed interest in buying it at the time. Yes, things sure have changed, haven't they? This is still a great place to be, just different. The focus has changed a lot. I bet I could build a good case for changing the name of this site to BikiniThread.com! Ferraris? What Ferraris?
