Ok, the old Mondial has sprung leak in the power steering rack. It appears to be coming out of the left boot. Is there a supply of re-built systems, a re-build kit, or just bite the bullet and replace the rack?? RSC
See if these guys has one: http://www.eurospares.co.uk/ PS I was not aware Mondials had power steering. Heh, live and learn.
Power steering was introduced on the 't' series in 1989; All 3.2 and previous used the Armstrong manual rack and pinion.
Russ, was it normal PS or variable assist? For that matter is 456 standard or variable? I am trying to place this in the scheme of power steering in fcars. I know 355's are variable, and 400/412s are not....not too sure of the interim 456s and (now to my knowledge) mondials.
I think it was a non-variable ratio power rack with a quicker ratio, about 2.8 turns lock to lock. Would guess that the 456 is variable hth rt
That just it, I am not sure... If I recall properly, 355+ use the ZF variable power steering rack, similar to what is standard in BMWs 1995+. 456's are a 92+ model...(technically) PS I apologize for getting offtopic so fast, if I was a moderator in this forum, I would split the thread.
