Hate it or Love it? Ferrari F8 Tributo - Owner Review

Upon first review, it’s hard to tell if this user likes his new Ferrari.

Here at FerrariChat, we often get first-hand perspectives from owners about their stallion(s). With unique pictures and authentic insights, owners provide honest opinions of these rare cars, which is refreshing compared to the commercial nature of typical car reviews. As expected with exotic cars, owners have mostly positive things to share, but sometimes it can be hard to tell how the owner really feels. For example, this user shared his "First Day with [His] F8" and the community was not sure how to take it.

It is hard to believe, but in terms of model lineage, the F8 Tributo is as far away from the 458 as the 360. So comparing the F8 to the 458 is apples and oranges, especially considering the addition of turbos in the 488 generation. The F8 is like a refined 488 Pista, with basically the same engine and specs but a slightly more reserved look (and 200 more pounds). So how does the newest V8 mid-engine Ferrari drive? Well it is hard to tell…

First off, the user mentions the comfortable seats of the F8 compared to race seats and then he mentions the smaller steering wheel and lighter handling than the Pista. Overall the F8 is more comfortable and usable on a daily basis than the Pista, as expected. At this point the review seems neutral, positive at best, but things soon get confusing. The user reports that the engine has a sound more like a "diesel truck".

As another user put it, sounding like a diesel truck is "hardly a positive attribute" and lighter steering is not necessarily better for everyone. More users followed up saying they have a hard time understanding the F8 owner’s review. For instance the owner says the car doesn’t feel as fast as the 488 Pista or the 812 Superfast, as he is too afraid to fully press the gas pedal in those cars, and the Tributo feels much safer on the street, because he can floor it? At this point, it seems that English might not be the Owner’s first language, and despite the confusing wording, other users came to defend the F8 owner and help communicate his sentiments.

"...he seems to love the car more than Pista because its really soft with a lot of low end torque yet still flies when he gets on the gas. He feels he can use the full power of the engine more in F8 than Pista as it feels too fast and aggressive for him. He feels F8 power is very smooth and the interior is a mix of 812 and 430." - Shadowfax

Lastly, the owner returned to the thread to clarify his thoughts on the car in all caps, “GREAT CAR WELL DONE LOVE IT”, with no punctuation. It’s hard to misunderstand that! As with many things, personal preference is most important here. You may not want a comfy car with lighter steering and cleaner power, but you also may not want a race car like the Pista. As the saying goes, love the one you are with. It sure is easy to do that when you own a Ferrari!
