According to F1TV Hamilton turned off the Brake magic, but an up shift turned it back on. Poor design I guess.

Rarely we see a race ending in such chaos!

Congrats to Perez and Red Bull, they had the best car today, mastered the race and were betrayed by the tyres.
Max Verstappen is the moral winner for me. He led his race sensibly in the best balanced car.
I still cannot understand why the race was restarted after the Red Flag, for 3 laps? They must have changed the rules without telling me! :p
As I previously stated, if 2/3 of the distance had been covered, the race wasn't restarted before, and the result was taken at the end of the previous lap.
That would have meant: Max, Sergio and Lewis on the podium.

Vettel 2nd, I can hardly believe it. Good for Aston Martin after Stroll dramatic exit.

Gasly is another star; and what about Tsunoda. Fantastic for a rookie!

For Ferrari, pole was a flash in the pan; they soon fell down the order. Leclerc giving his all as always. They are so near, and yet so far from success.

McLaren was under par this time, completely eclipsed by Aston.

What to say about Mercedes; the team was all sorts this weekend and in damage limitation mode.
Hamilton made a costly error at the restart. Unforgivable for a champion like him. Bottas was nowhere to be seen.

The very definition of “siht happens”. 4pts still separate the top 2, so in the end it’s alright. A win would have been Nico-like and put Max in a 21-pt hole.

I gather Red Bull count themselves lucky to have taken Sergio Perez onboard.

Sergio is eating Bottas’ lunch. I couldn’t understand why they started to discuss replacing him. He was the number two driver they needed him to be today.

Interesting that all 3 on the podium are journeymen who have taken tumbles in their prospective careers. They know how to capitalize when the dice finally rolls their way.

Horner and Marko are inept managers overall. Sergio is a gift, yet I feel they are so biased to anything Max they dont really know it.

Brake magic lever was the issue for LH. Oops.

Driver of the Day - Checo - period - He would have beaten Max straight out with a better stop earlier that RedBull messed up. Favoritism to Max of course lol :) :)

Loser of the day - the entire Mercedes team

Fun race but only after we had crashes. This was as I predicted going to be an easy Max win. Except for Pirelli left rears.

** The safety car reset was nice but they should not have loss the lap to the Safety Car going out to the grid for the standing restart. Stupid. We should have had 3 laps not 2. Better of course than a rolling re-start.

Did Ham forget that he was running low down-force? ;)

I mean, heck: at the start, Ham blows by Leclerc like the Merc had Indy-style "push-to-pass", then holds up the parade in the twisty bits.

But what the heck is Ferrari doing to their cars on race day?
They have good practices, good quali, .... but on race day, everyone on the grid outruns them.
Good mechanical grip, but they've got no power for the straights.
Did you see how much trouble Sainz had just getting around an Alfa?

This is the second year Ferrari has been short on power. You'd think the engineers could remedy that --- unless they're under some restriction on development. (The "secret agreement"???)

But you have to feel for the Scud's drivers -- getting passed by lawnmowers on race day.

My guess was off: 16 cars finished (counting Ham dragging in at the back).

My next guess is that Max will never put Pirellis on any of his street cars. ;)

Hydraulic leak, slow was the issue for Checo that nearly wrecked his race. Lucky man but great victory. Happy to see him get this.

This has been confirmed. Brake action was altered literally by accident per SKY F1 and Ted's post race notebook that is on now.

Hamilton had ‘no idea’ he touched brake switch

Lewis Hamilton spoke of the “humbling” feeling he had after accidentally flicking a switch in his Mercedes car that effectively “switched off” his brakes in Baku.

Today I laughed and I cried. And in the end I laughed. Quite average race for our guys, but at least we outscored McLaren again, that was the main target.

Pirelli should stop doing this crap. Tyres blowing without previous notice is unnaceptable, specially in a single tyre championship: dude, you don´t need to make them fast, they even don´t need to last, but a least make them safe.
