Thanks for the correction. I meant to say GTO. Been posting so much about both that I mistyped. The LIMITED EDITION GTO is heading in the direction of the Aperta. Prancing horse V12s are going to get rarer nonetheless. We're seeing wholesale prices start to go up.

As for "knowing someone in Maranello", this was indeed the case for pre-ordering the car and specing it out and paying MSRP when the car was first announced. If you can buy one for only $100K above sticker, you should and then resell it in Palm Beach for a profit after six months.

"Purrari" was a clear trademark violation. Our customer was respectful enough to remove the badging even in the renderings since he is well aware this is no longer a Ferrari product once the roof is removed and the A pillar is reinforced.

"Used Car Salesman" do indeed suck with their tactics. We are trying our best to support our customer and transcend that stereotype.

Well safety IS a concern ( Florida jokes aside ) and since the factory doing the conversion does it for Dodge and the Pope ( no kidding ) they may just know a thing or two about Federal standards such as A pillar reinforcement and chassis "bend" tolerances etc. Zero chance our customer is building a death trap for himself and his family. As more details become available we'll share them so hopefully everyone can ease their tension and perhaps just enjoy a cool Ferrari project by a fellow enthusiast.

palm to face emoji .... nice try, buddy, for the whole time we are talking about convertible here in regarding your FF convertible project, hence 812 GTS was mentioned. 812 GTO, as again you may or may not know, is not even a convertible. So you have actually failed twice at "transcending" the used car salesman stereotypes. Actually using GTO now as another excuse to cover up of your initial mistake of exaggerating the 812 GTS to be something that is not is laughable, not to mention that your posts just reeks self serving promotion, while again pretending to be something that is not, which is a genuine Ferrari enthusiast project. This is what I am having problems with and why I am calling you out, not the FF convertible per se. Like Paul said, it's your client's money, who are we to judge. But don't capitalize on your client's Ferrari enthusiasm, which is something I surmise you don't have much since you keep making mistakes on the very simple variants of 812 line up.

Hint: you should study Monza, then next time it can help you more with your tactics of using 599 SA Aperta analogy and the need of inside connection with Maranello.

Fair enough. Mistakes were made regarding "background" since that was not the focus of the OP. We fumbled a bit trying to make the point that it's tough getting your hands on a V12 Ferrari convertible at a reasonable price. Some got the intent and others needed to call out the details. We appreciate all of it. We're new to this forum so we'll be more careful on the non-material aspects of the overall purpose of the OP.

NO and YES ( sort of ).

NO: "FFLussoConvertible" is our customer's account, but he turned it over to us. He created the account originally to promote his project. He was ready to pay $$$$ to sign up as an Associate Sponsor when he found out we had just done the same thing independently. Didn't make sense to do both given our history together. We have been asked by FChat not to promote using the Customer's account, but to do so solely through the Marino account which is a paid sponsor account. I think we posted one answer by mistake through this log in. This account needs to be disabled.

YES in the sense that he and our dealership are tightly aligned on this and our dealership is very interested in supporting his project and buying and selling his cars ( converted or not ). We collaborate on the responses to some of the questions posed on this site since he and/or the factory owner have answers we don't as the dealer. There are separate 3 humans contributing to the answers we post through this account.

Our Customer is sharing his passion project for converting both a Ferrari FF and a Ferrari GTC4 Lusso into bespoke convertibles. This is an FF underway:

Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
A Ferrari FF based aftermarket convertible conversion project:

Roof is removed to create a “convertible"
    “A" Pillars reinforced.
    Black Canvas Retractable Top added
    Automatic motorized one button operation
    New Cabin “cage” for stability
No appreciable loss in drive stability/performance
New double aerolon “hump” rear deck lid
New two tone metallic paint on windshield frame
New two tone metallic paint on double aerolons “humps”
    No other mechanical mods
Drives like the original donor car
    Exciting, new sporty lines
AWD, V12, top down 4 passenger supercar
Full size, long wheel base for a commanding presence

    FAQ:

    Why?

Our long time Customer visually designed the concept for himself based on his love of the prancing horse V12 experience. With 264 days of sunshine in Florida, he wanted to enjoy an “ open" drive on the AWD, V12 platform and share it with friends, family and colleagues in a true 4 seater. A depreciated FF or Lusso offer the best value in technology ( so much car for the money ) and drive thrill to invest the engineering and design resources to convert. Visually, for those that shy away from the existing “square” or “station wagon” rear silhouette of the original FF or GTC4Lusso car, this design offers an exciting new look with the value proposition of AWD V12 technology, sleeker lines and open top functionality to connect with that V12 purr. The same conversion works for an FF or GTC4Lusso donor car. A truly unique resulting convertible.

    What’s notable about the design?
The donor Ferrari’s long wheelbase provides a commanding full size presence in person. Photos rarely do it justice because it has a scale unlike any other Ferrari. Since the rear is wider than the front giving it an aggressive stance, this conversion respects this “masculinity” and retains and enhances the rear with 2 aerolons ( “humps”- he made that word up since “humps” don’t sound as cool ) that will wrap the rear headrests and flow back to the end of the trunk like a fighter jet. An offsetting two-tone metallic silver paint will accentuate these dramatic new lines that should turn heads from behind ( see scale model photo below ). Dual aerolons pay homage to so many classic convertible designs of the past. This car as a convertible scales well particularly to taller drivers who don’t feel as comfortable in smaller traditional spyders. It’s a AWD, V12 supercar convertible for 4 adults that you can drive every day.

Who is doing the engineering and conversion?
Well established and industry respected convertible designer and coach builder Jeff Moran, Founder and CEO of Custom Builders LLC, is converting the car. Custom Builders LLC has been doing convertible conversions since 1974 based in central Florida and has a reference standard resume. Jeff is personally overseeing and engineering the project. Our Customer and Jeff are converting two Ferrari's for themselves. This is a “bucket list “ passion project for both of them from an artistic, visual, mechanical and pride of ownership perspective.

    Why sell it?
A substantial financial investment has been made by our Customer for the initial design and engineering. By offering an additional limited run of conversions to a select few like-minded enthusiasts, the cost of the engineering will be load balanced across the entire limited production run. One off bespoke projects can run $300-500K. Doing a limited production run reduces the price per car closer to $100K.

    What is the production status?
This pristine 2013 Ferrari FF donor car is in production. The canvas roof top and motor mechanism is 95% complete ( not installed yet ). The double aerolon new deck lid design is in production now for installation soon ( see scale model ). Final delivery of this bespoke completed convertible is expected mid to late summer. The conversion is available today for pre-order. Pics and Video will be updated regularly as this car progresses toward completion.

    How do I buy one?
You can buy the “donor” Ferrari FF ( featured in this ad ) today and take delivery when completed ( as well as a participate in the production process which is why the donor car is advertised now ) OR you can buy just the conversion from us for your existing or recently purchased FF or GTC4Lusso for $99,999 + shipping both ways OR you can buy a different FF or Lusso from us and we’ll make you a package deal. Turnaround time is 2-3 months.

    Warranty?
Yes. One year parts and labor from Custom Builders LLC on all things related to the conversion. Any issues with the underlying donor car not related to the conversion remain between you and your Ferrari dealer or mechanic. No mechanical aspects of the car are modified outside the roof removal etc. Marino Performance Motors will always assist and support you in every way we can since this is a limited run. We’ve been in business for 25 years because we support our customers especially AFTER they buy from us. Your long term satisfaction is important to us and we have a proven track record helping resolve issues.

    Is this Ferrari endorsed?
No. This is aftermarket and no one should mistake the resulting converted car as a product or conversion from Ferrari itself. This is why badging has been removed in promotional material to respect Ferrari’s trademark. Individual owners for private use may badge their cars however they please but because we are commercially promoting our aftermarket conversion publicly, we voluntarily removed the Ferrari badging based on standard industry practice and respect. Other than the roof mechanism and associated reinforcement no other mods are made to the original donor Ferrari.

    What about safety?
Convertibles are inherently more dangerous than their counterpart hard top cars. That’s simply an undisputed fact. “A” pillar reinforcement and adherence to US federal safety standards is why our Customer chose Custom Builders and Jeff Moran to do the conversion in line with the same safety standards as OEM convertibles that come directly from the original factories.

Apologies to users seeing this subject again. The analytics for this site suggest most users do not visit all sub-threads. We have three different audiences for this project:

Classifieds to buy/sell a particular car
FF specific to upsell the conversion only to existing owners
General Discussion to expose the car to non-FF minded folks who would not see it otherwise

Again, apologies to those of you seeing it more than once.

again, this is a pure advertisement with price listed and the product sold with reasons explained. @GatorFL , is this thread allowed to be in this general section? Should it be moved to the advertisement section per its nature?

I for one, am interested in seeing this 'project car' finished. Why not? Obviously it rubs you the wrong way, so, just stop following! ;) Let mods handle it as they see fit.
