Had the chance to make up for Hungary. Did the same thing but expected a different result. (I.e. ‘insanity’)
Max was on a other level this weekend. I wonder how much time he brings over others...looking at his teammates since ric (especially during 2018 when he raised his game) and thr margin he has over them...I think it's come to the point that it simply doesn't matter who is in the 2nd seat, the car simply needs to be faster. This track and portimao favour the mercs so I'm happy with how close max has been. Let's see how the next few tracks work out....
Nothing RBR could've done. Nothing. Had they pitted max before Lewis, Lewis would simply stay ojt and retain track position (merc was mighty on mediums). Had he pitted a lap later, max had lost track position instantly.
Respectfully disagree, Gasly, Albon now Perez. Are you sure this Red Bull is a real threat for the W12 ? Again congrats Max for being so competitive.
Max is on another level, but RB keep shooting themselves in the feet by treating their 2nd driver like chattel. When you put all your eggs into one basket...
Looks to me that the mercddes is still clearly the better car. Max just making a big difference that makes the merc and rb seem closer
RedBull lack a bit of pace and strategic ability to win it seems overall. LH driver of the day or Charles. Charles getting alot out of the current Ferrari package. Vettel losing out again. So who is now favored in Monaco. I have to think Mercedes are overall.
It isn't as visible as in the Webber years, but RB have always treated their #2 drivers as second class citizens. There's a reason why top drivers leave or refuse to take that second seat. Perez hasn't been treated like trash yet because he's driving like trash.
I don't think this is the case with Checo. Sure, he didn't do well overall this weekend. I say he will easily out perform Albon over the course of the season. Lewis and Max are absolutely top notch though. I can't see how that can be argued.
It started with Ricci. They valued Max and having Max' father around pushing the issue of long term deal etc etc. The insistence of the team being built around Max was the end of any competition where no driver was favored. Ricci left after seeing the truth after Baku. The same atomosphere with Vettel and Mark when Vettel passed Mark and the 'multi-21' issue and race. This is Max' team. Period. All other drivers are guests. Not the first time in F1 as well.
MB almost never leave anything on the table for others to grab. How many times a year do they make a big blunder? 2-3? Other teams make blunders every race it seems. Can't win WDC with that approach.
Certainly not the first time, and not the last. But to beat a team like MB, you need a full team, not half a team.
Exactly. RedBull are not a complete team yet capable of a sustained campaign of winning. Not yet. Close but small details and mistakes etc still are with them. Things certainly have time to turn around.
Above all, you need a reliable car.Unfortunately I think that Max will experience reliability problems this season.
While it is frustrating to see Max' efforts not getting rewarded with a title this year, I'm pretty sure he'll be raking the WDCs up one after another come 2022 and beyond: New cars and eventually Hamilton's retirement will open the road for Max' rule of F1. It's not a matter of if but when.
Let's hoping that can be said of Chuck Leclerc. That guy deserves to win. Supposedly Ferrari is all in on the 2022 car trying to make exactly that happen.
I have stopped making these kinds of predictions lately because they have all proven to be inaccurate .. wait and see is a far better approach
Yup, good point. A battle of Max in RB vs Leclerc in a Ferrari would be awesome. Another WDC in the waiting.
