I see a friend's 550 at KHPC has got a deposit on it immediately: www.tfcgb.com/used-cars/12631403-ferrari-550-maranello/ I'm guessing KHPC must have had someone on their books looking for that spec. My friend didn't even know they'd started advertising it yet!

Whilst deposit down may not end up as a sale I think that indicates that there are buyers out there looking for the right cars.

Nice car, Jonathan. Any idea of the asking price?

No, I'm afraid not and, funnily enough, my friend asked me if I knew how much it was up for!

550 listed on Collecting Cars this week.

    https://collectingcars.com/for-sale/2000-ferrari-550-maranello-2

Do you know anything about this one JT?

Having had a quick scan through the photos the car has a claimed 42,000 miles whilst the drivers seat and steering wheel look like they've been around the clock.

There is paperwork showing a recent £15K worth of work that looks like recommissioning.

The MOT history has two anomalous mileage readings and is a bit patchy.

Doesn't look great to be honest, it looks like a rough car that's had a polish to be solid. But I like the colour and fact it has no sheilds.

It's a project car, I doubt it will go at a project price though.

I know it in that I've seen it a couple of times - although not for a while. Prior to the recommissioning you mention it was looked after by the same specialists who look after my car. I will dig out my photos in a moment and see what it looked like when I last saw it. There's clearly a story there. No idea how you get the steering wheel in that kind of state and the interior generally looks quite tatty.

I imagine the two anomalous MOT mileage readings you mention are just mistake with the second digit.

I have no sales history on it at all or anything much else, for that matter.

Edited to add: I've just checked my photos and the steering wheel doesn't look in that state then. However, I think it might be the car they had out the back for a long time because they couldn't get in touch with the owner or something like that. I can find out the story on Monday if you are interested in it. Let me know.

Also, I know the garage that carried out the two MOTs with the anomalous readings although I doubt that would be of much use.

Looking at the state of the tool kit along with the interior and steering wheel (combined with your information above) I'm wondering if the car sat for an extended period of time and had a damp/mold issue.

I am interested to a point, but I doubt it will sell for the amount I'm interested at. I think it would be worth publicly asking a few pertinent questions on the listing once it goes live, it may put of other bidders who might not be so vigilant.

It's absolutely a car that needs a PPI though, I'm not brave enough to buy that one blind.

If it is the car I am thinking of it was sitting out in their back yard for a long time (months or possibly even years?) and did get mouldy inside. But I would need to check it is that car which it may not be and I wouldn't want to misrepresent it by attaching history to the wrong car.

So they did! Didn't spot that.

This seems so odd to me.....who in the world trades in a 2005 575 into a Toyota dealership in Oakland?

ZFFBV55A950139951 (I checked Nathan's book registry and its actually not listed or I'd share the spec).... 27k miles black on black with shields.

    Looks super sexy.

    EDIT
Ah that's weird it was on my tracking sheet in Bonita Springs FL and its a Euro and when it was listed in FL it said FHP and had been listed for $89 at that point.

I'm almost wondering if the autotrader ad was fraudulent since I'm not sure how you can sell a Euro in california....and the photos from Oakland look like florida ;-)

Out of curiosity from your post I looked at all the 575's FS on autotrader. I can't believe out of the 20 total cars in the US, 11 of them Superamerica's!

In contrast there are 10 550's where 4 are Barchetta's. So maybe not that far off but interesting to me.

Seems like the market is trying to take advantage of the hiked up pricing, but now flooding the market with too many examples and pricing might start going the other way.

A Florida car wrapped up in fraudulent looking activity? Naaahhhh???

Yea....someone once told me Florida is so easy, you could probably get a license plate on a lawnmower if you really wanted to.

I don't want this to get into a debate but California at the other end of the spectrum is ridiculous.

Apologies as I'm slightly confused by your post. 139951 is a US car. That's a US VIN (eighth character A = US).

It was for sale at Gulf Coast Motorworks from July last year up until a few days ago and now shows on the Recently Sold page of their website. As you say, it now appears listed by Downtown Toyota of Oakland. It seems a bit odd that it should have crossed from one coast to the other to end up at a Toyota dealership but the timings do add up so I do think that is what has happened.

Edit: Might as well include the links:

I had been talking during our hunting sessions with another F-Chatter behind the scenes on this car and I had it marked as a Euro on my tracking spreadsheet and now I see why its because the speedo is in KPH......maybe canadian cars had the option of having a KM speedo? I had just assumed it was a Euro but your "A" on the vin does raise a question.

On the vin decoder I had been using I had a note that A was USA but maybe it is actually "north america"?

Apologies also for not doing the links. One time a moderator took down the post for that Azzuro car in SF iwith fabio's valved mufflers I had shared notes on.....I assumed they took it down because I think it was perceived as an "advertisement" and should have been in classifieds....which wasn't my intention (was just trying to help in our subforum).... so here I didn't post the link because I wanted to make sure I was "following protocol" if I hadn't historically.

Either way...just trying to be helpful....no interest or affiliation in that car (since I have a 550 now) -- E

I recently acquired my 2002 575M Maranello this past January with only 13,800 Miles and at the time of my search 6 months prior there was at least 20 that I had seen with only 4 that I was considering. Now none of the 4 are available and I only see 3 to 5 575 Maranello's available on the various sites i.e. Ebay, Cars.com and Autotrader etc. There must have been an up serge in the last few months to acquire all the 575's. I'm just glad I got the one I desired the most, with all the documentation, great history and low miles. When I was looking at the time, quite a few had been listed from 3 to 6 months.

Yes, you're quite right. A = North American spec. That is Ferraris supplied to the USA and Canada and possibly a few other places. US-spec cars were supplied to the Middle East for a while, for example. I suspect you're right and this is a Canadian car.

It was originally a Canadian car. I inquired briefly before the car I ended up with presented itself.

This car is brining nice money with almost 2 hours to go.

Note to all future sellers. Pay a professional photographer to take a series of pictures of your car. A few simple cell phone pics will cost you money.

Seller. We are pulling for you.
