It’s effective range is longer than the Valentine, Radenso has the best false signal filtering on the market whereas with the Valentine it will be beeping all the time in the city or when certain types of cars drive by with BSM, the Radenso in addition to radar detection also has built in GPS that notifies you the location of all speed cameras, and the Radenso is undetectable by police RDD (radar detector detectors), which is important for driving through certain states where radar detectors are illegal. The Valentine Is old technology that despite updates and versions, has past the point of being able to compete with the top two radar detector companies on the market, Uniden and Radenso. There is lots of marketing crap from Escort, Cobra, Valentine, etc but none of them can compete with Uniden or Radenso. I would look into a Uniden radar detector as well, they are excellent. Valentine and Escort are riding on the laurels of being the big names back 15-20 years ago, but there are far superior companies now like Radenso and Uniden. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well, after starting this thread when my Escort SRX failed me, probably due to the constant false alerts, I finally bit the bullet and had a Radenso RC M ultimate edition installed in my 599. what a difference. it is totally stealth, does not give a false alert with other vehicles BSM systems, and has warned of radar far in advance. Have yet to experience laser jam with it, but optimistic it will work fine.
Outstanding. So glad to hear. The common false alerts in Escort, Valentine, etc. are the worst- you totally lose confidence in its ability to protect you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
After many years of having Valentine 1, I just ordered the Radenso based on you guys. Will report back. Thanks
Sounds like you are basing all of your judgement on the original V1, not the V1 Gen 2. The Radenso is way behind the Gen 2 and much more comparable to the original V1. The Uniden R7 is another step above the V1Gen2 though.
Well, I originally was going to buy the V1 Gen 2 until I read these posts here. Oh well, we’ll see how the Radenso works. It can’t be any worse than my valentine one generation one.
Well, I would say the vortexradar.com guy is the most knowledgeable and unbiased reviewer of radar detectors. I would suggest people view his website before making a purchase. Here is the headline of a recent review - Best Radar Detectors of 2021 There’s a lot of excellent radar detectors to choose from and each one has a sort of specialty, making it “best” for different people with different needs and budgets. Escort Redline 360c: Best All-Around Radar Detector Uniden R7: Best Bang-for-the-Buck High Performance Detector Valentine 1 Gen2: Best Situational Awareness with Apps Radenso Pro M: Best for MultaRadar Uniden R3: Best Under $300 Uniden DFR7: Best Under $200
One thing I’ll clarify about the Escort, there are two 360 systems. One of them is a $2000 deep install integrated system that is excellent and the other is a dash mount system. The cheaper dash mount 360 is not as good as Uniden and other top tier detectors. When looking at Escort it’s important to keep in mind which 360 detector system is being talked about. Often times people read the review of the 360 deep instal system and are disappointed when buying the simple dash mount version which uses different less modern technology. I have been using a V1 for many years. It's saved me untold times. That being said, it's long in the tooth and does give many false reports whether it's other cars or buildings. It sounds like the new Gen2 has a lot of these problems solved. My Maserati came with an older Escort 360Ci installed. It has some issues like the GPS doesn't always work and it doesn't seem to have a speaker so all warnings are visual only with the little display that's mounted in the instrument cluster. I can imagine the newer version of this being the way to go if you have the coin to spend and want the ultimate protection. The new one with all the bells and whistles I'm guessing is close to $6k installed though.
absolutely zero. (because its not even in the same class) Rather than listen to me (aka some guy on the interweb) or the guy above (another guy on the interweb) that imho typed a bunch of untruths, just go to vortex. Having seen everything he puts out, I feel confident in saying that in his highly educated, firsthand opinion, there are - at this point in time - only 3 detectors worth buying; the latest Escort Redline 360c (pricey), the V2 (but only with one of the phone apps) and the R7 (but not really if you can afford either of the prior two on this list). * the caveat that doesn't matter to 95% of radar users is that the radenso's are good with Multi-radar and radar-detection-avoidance. Neither of those matter at all to most of us not in Canada or a couple of USA states, so Radenso's current offerings are not Top 3 for range/filtering/features aside from those niche requirements.
if you are happy with dash mount (not built-in) either get the latest Escort Redline 360c or a V2 (but you 100% have to run the V2 with one of the phone apps or it will be a hot mess of false alarms).
The Radenso will not be worse than your V1, so if that is all you want, then you will get it (presuming you were not one who had come to only live with a detector that has arrows - for me and many others they are a must have.) Fwiw, the V2 with a phone app is orders of magnitude better that the V1. Simply not comparable. (I've run V1 and Escort and Uniden for decades and have had a V2 since last summer). It has the two killer (and vitally important) features of long-range detection and arrows. And - finally with the phone app - it has auto GPS lockouts (like the Escorts have had for years) and excellent false filtering. And as an added bonus it is highly custom-izible via the apps to filter or do just about anything you want. There is no comparable detector on the market in all of those features. That said, the Escort Redline 360c has similar range, arrows and comes with GPS auto lockouts and good filtering. So its "as good" as the V2+phone, but all in one (pricey) package and thus no need to run a phone. (honestly for those who aren't concerned with the cost differences among detectors, these are the only two options to consider) fwiw - the biggest problem I have with the other guy's advice is that he claimed the Radenso's "effective range is longer than the Valentine". In the vast majority of tests, its not in the same league as the longest range detectors (R7, V2, and even the Redline 36oc after its flaws were fixed). And secondarily would be failing to mention that the Radenso does not come with arrows (as the other 3 top detectors - R7, V2, Redline 360c - all have). For many arrows are a must have. https://www.vortexradar.com/2020/03/valentine-1-gen2-testing-vs-uniden-r7-v1-gen1/ https://www.vortexradar.com/2020/06/escort-redline-360c-radar-detector-testing/
If you’re getting a Ka band hit which is 100% police radar, does it matter what direction it came from? No. You’re slowing down no matter what. Arrows shouldn’t matter and are gimmicky in nature. Radenso has the single best filtering of any detector on the market, including BSM of many cars that no other brand has been able to successfully filter. Also, the GPS in the Radenso is the best at warning of speed cameras. Places like DC with a high concentration of speed cameras, you absolutely need this feature. No one else besides Radenso does this effectively. What radar detector you buy comes down to what your needs are and the area you live in. If you live in a metropolitan area with speed cameras and tons of signals flying everywhere for false alerts and keeping your detector undetectable from the police is a concern, then get the Radenso. There is nothing better. If you live somewhere else where there are no speed cameras and other things matter more, get something that fits the environment. Where I live, there is nothing better than a Radenso. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
one man's gimmick is another's "saved my ass a few times" and "invaluable". I wonder if Radenso will add arrows to the mythical theia? let's check and see if Radenso has determined them to be useful (like Uniden and Escort did after the V1 patent expired)... "Theia also delivers desirable features such as directional arrows". Yup. Seems like as strong of an endorsement as a company can make. Look, I don't have any brand allegiance. But I do have clear eyes and can read. Too many tests out there demonstrate that the Radenso M does not have the range of the best detectors. And you have clearly not used the V2 with a phone for GPS/filtering personally. I've used one for 9 months now and its good in the ways that V1 was not - namely auto-GPS lockouts (something Radenso M does not have) and false alarm limiting. Similarly I had 360's with GPS in two of my cars for years and their false alarms are likewise fairly limited. I've not seen anything third-party that suggests Radenso M has far better false alarm limiting than the latest from Valentine2 + app or 360 redline's latest. And those have much better range (sorta important). The M makes sense where you have multi-radar and where radar is illegal (the very few US states, luckily none anywhere near where I live/travel), but frankly the other's are getting there on multi-radar and RDD immunity too. The M is outclassed and will be replaced "someday" if Radenso can ever get Theia out the door (we have been waiting a long time). If theia is all its been touted to be, you will see me singing its praises.
This thread is going south. All the above detectors are great and will keep you similarly out of trouble. As for the range discussion, some are better than others. But the shortest range of the top few is still PLENTY OF DISTANCE. Pick a name out of a hat. You'll be happy. I went with the Radenso, because it's about HALF the size of the others.
I’m also looking forward to the Theia. It should be a game changer if it does what they claim. Time will tell. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I run a radenso pro m and it has regularly picked up KA from 2 miles out. Not sure what more I could ask for?
The most important feature in a radar detector is personal confidence! I have complete confidence in mine, whereas many others with similar features from other brands have failed me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Would you guys recommend battery-operated detectors? Not a fan of all the wires hanging down, to much of a heat score where I live as they are illegal. Any of the better detectors battery-operated?
I don't want a detector, I want an annihilator. Laser. Ping me and BLAM!! Something shoots back of an intensity to fry the PD laser. How much are those things, anyway?
