Awesome! Have you had it before? I will probably pick up a couple bottles the next time I'm near Total Wine. Let me know what you think!!
Excellent wine list. I was not a big fan of their steak/food. I did love their lobster bisque. I was there last year for the very first time. I really enjoyed the tour of the wine cellar. I definitely wouldn't have been upset if they locked me in there. :)

Many, Many years ago, when my wonderful father-in-law was still alive (he was widowed) he lived in Clearwater. This was in the mid 1980's. We went to Bern's for my birthday dinner, and we drank a 1949 Latour, a wine that had always been in my dreams as it was my birth year and a great vintage. Hold on to your hats, but I think back then we paid around $ 225 or 250 for it, which was a lot of money for us. That bottle today has got to be $ 5,000+. It was decanted, served at the right temperature, and was sublime. The Somm told me it had been in their cellar for quite a while, and after dinner we went down there and saw the spot it had been stored. They had half a dozen or so additional bottle of the 49. Stephanie, if you are a regular there, could you see if they still have the 49 LaTour?

September 2013 - we went to Jarvis (amazing) and Sterling, which was beautiful. We also had stayed at the Meritage, which has Trinitas Cellars on property.

I want to go back and go to Caymus and a few others.

we just did a tasting of African wines. I was really impressed, some really good wines for the price points. talking $15-30 bottle wines that drink many times that compared to popular regions.

    Red Schooner Caymus Voyage 8
    Mount Veeder cabernet
    McManis petite sirah
    Meiomi pinot noir

I enjoy red wines...cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, pinot noir, petite sirah.
They do have good wine. I dated someone for years who had grown up on a vineyard in South Africa. We drank a lot of wine. LOL.

I really liked Protea cabernet sauvignon from South Africa, but I haven't been able to find it anymore.
Awesome! I'm so glad you enjoyed Red Schooner! I've added Cloud Break to my curbside order at Total Wine. I'll pick it up tonight and try it soon. :)

A friend took me to dinner last night and he had gotten me a bottle of Caymus cabernet and a bottle of 1858 cabernet sauvignon for Christmas. Apparently, 1858 is bottled by Caymus and is supposed to be pretty good too. I LOVE Caymus and I'm really looking forward to trying the 1858 too! Has anyone here had it?

Yes, it is produced by Caymus...the grapes are from central calif. region ( trend to be a hotter region grapes mature faster, thicker skin and a little more brix) , it will be a little softer, fruitier, drink now...:)

I’m sorry it wasn’t your thing.

I know I’ve had La Fortuna before, but I don’t remember it specifically. I’ll try it again. :)

I am not sure of your MacDonald allocations but I will not drink any of mine without at least 7 years on them. There is some sediment and would slow ox or decant. Just had the 11 and 12 MacDonald about a month ago. Both were fantastic. I sold the 2011 and bought some more of the 2012 MacDonald.

I really like the 2006 vintage from Napa and can find some good pricing on those.

Recently had a 2016 Roy Piper and 2016 Myriad and both were much better on the second day.
