Here's my Cartier Calibre de Cartier model W7100039. This is the 42mm version with the rose gold bezel. I *love* the watch, but recently posted for sale on here because I just purchased its smaller 38mm sibling (W2CA0002), which should better fit my small wrist....

My father received this Rolex Datejust watch as a present from the Sheik of Ajman back in the 70's. When my father passed away, I received the watch (eventually) and just got it back from the local Rolex dealer after servicing. It's more than 50 years old and they still were able to bring it back to life.

The watch is nothing special or out of the ordinary but it has some history and spent many years on the wrist of my father. He cashed in the band years ago so I'm going to probably buy another vintage Rolex with a good band to restore that.

I've bought and sold two of these and have regretted it both times. Finally picked up a third a few months ago with a promise to myself that I'll never part with it.

Tell me some history about that bezel!

Today I am proudly wearing my first restoration project! This is a Girard Perregaux (with a 17J GP03 movement) from the 1940’s. I stumbled across it on eBay listed from a store in Argentina, not working, as-is sale. I had to have it. It had several broken parts in the movement (all replaced with NOS items) and some very gummed up lubricants. After giving it through cleaning and some new oils, it will now take a place of pride in my collection.

Congrats. You're the second person I've seen get the Pepsi/Batgirl from an AD this past week. Wonder if supply is finally matching demand and that prices will start to come down in the secondary markets? Obviously not good if you paid almost 2x for them, but I've always thought they were over priced in the "grey" same with the Daytona's. That said, still would love to get a ceramic Daytona, just not at 2x+.

I am no expert. But, I buy strictly (thus far) through AD's, and in one week last year I had two different Rolex shops (Minnesota) call me with a Sub (in the same geographical area). I am wondering if Rolex releases batches of them? I went on a list this past April, and had a steel Rolex in 8 weeks (for retail, I would never pay above, it's already a rip off :)). I am going next week to see if I can pick up a Proplaf.
