This morning the wife and I left Mooresville, NC heading for our residence in the Charlottesville, VA area. Since we had the 458 Spider, we decided to take a detour and try the Blue Ridge Parkway, getting on in Sparta, NC and heading north.

This is a serious Ferrari outing with some outstanding sections where you can really put it to the test. Some great tunnels for sounding out if you so desire.

It was an outstanding fall day, a bit past peak foliage, but very cool and dry. We dropped the top for the entire 275 mile ride to Waynesboro, VA.

Highly recommended if anyone is considering. Only issue is the car is a bit of a magnet, so prepare accordingly. Also, we did too much in one day; we spent almost 10 hours in the car and did close to 300 miles, so on the return trip we’ll break it up into segments.

Wow, that looks like a great trip, thanks for sharing your pics. How far was this from the Tail of the Dragon?

Just to follow up, we will be doing the reverse trip in about a week and a half, but probably do the entire length and spend some time in the Great Smoky Mtn. Area once we get there. The amount of driving we did on Saturday was too much for one day’s driving yesterday, and quite frankly, I was exhausted at the end.

This time we will spend a few nights on the road, on a bit of a splurge. May hit up Greenbriar and Asheville Biltmore and Pigeon Forge. We’ll have an opportunity to do the “Tail” if it works out, but honestly, these roads are fine as is, and just too nice not to enjoy to their fullest in an open top Fcar this time of year.

Small bummer, I was literally forced off the road by someone not paying attention heading the opposite way, and got a very small puncture on the passenger tire. Luckily not the rim, and I lucked out into finding a Michelin replacement (good luck with that!).

We’re at our home in the VA mountains now, and will hit Shenandoah National Park and Skyline Drive this week. A few pics from our area in VA - Old Rag Mtn. is nearby. Almost 600 miles on the Spider since Saturday, LOL!

I have a Kline exhaust and cats on the car, so it reverberates and rumbles in all the ‘hollers’ we have up here, LOL! Folks up here think it’s a spaceship.......

Blue Ridge Parkway is stunning, with beautiful vistas and never ending curves. On the other hand speed li.it is stupidly low, RVs are a pain in the Summer, and this time of year you don't want a deer coming through that $9K windshield. Glad your trip went well

Thanks, have logged over 1,000 since Saturday, but not done yet by a long stretch. I try to stay well off the roads before dusk and early AM. Here’s a pic from dinner at the Mimslyn in Luray, VA last night, and our bridge this morning. We have a roaring ‘run’ as it’s called in the hills Image Unavailable, Please Login

    Our journey continues.....

Headed west out 33 W through Harrisonburg into WV on Saturday, took us past Spruce Knob, Seneca Rocks, north through the Canaan Valley to Thomas, then South on the Seneca Trail (Rt. 219 S) to Lewisburg.

This AM at the Greenbrier for breakfast, more of 219 S to 460 West and into Southern VA, skirting WV and VA border. Now in rugges Appalachia of KY.

We’ve hit some unbelievable Ferrari roads in our travels. And putting loads of smiles on the Fcar. A few pics from WV, KY and VA the past two days....

It is a very special place indeed. Breakfast was fantastic, the ambiance unmatched, and the history alone is worth the stay. 27 Presidents have visited there and the pics of the celebrities that adorn the walls are amazing.

The good news......more great weather awaits and the fun continues with The Tail, The Snake, and the remainder of the Blue Ridge Parkway still ahead.

Well over 1,500 miles in the 458 in one week, LOL! I’ve really pressure tested this thing in some pretty technical conditions.

We made that trip several years ago in our '04 T-Bird. Memorable to say the least. Lots of wildlife. :)
