    Nonsense.

My response to your post was to correct misinformation you are helping disseminate, without revealing in any way whatsoever what the actual very specific sales price was, it could be anything below $2m.

You seemed happy with that response 2 posts ago with your response "Nice"

Whatever misinformation was supplied to you, which you repeated in your post, it certainly wasn't from me, whenever I have a confidentiality clause where the clients prefers that the number is kept confidential, I honor that agreement, always, ergo my comment Silence is Golden, vey simple as far as I'm concerned.

It always feels good to bring reality to the misinformation which is disseminated rampantly, in this case, I created the deal, so I have every responsibility to ensure reality without revealing the actual number.

But I feel best about the F40 we sold went from a true honorable gentleman to another, quite a unique experience.

    Stop embarrassing yourself.

    Let's review:

First you said the F40 I sold was "sold for 2m plus vig"

    That's completely false, AKA misinformation.

Then you said "there is no difference between 1.9 and 2.1"

That's also completely false, the difference is $200,000.

Whatever the result was, I'm confident other F40 owners benefit from it, and rather than come on here and argue with me about a result I created or try to exaggerate same as you did (as you have tended to do in the past), they think it's prudent to simply be happy that the cars are bringing strong money.

    Smart.

wow Joe you really get frustrated when your condensing/pompous demeanor doesn't work or backfires. I'm a collector and my information is within 90% of your information, and you do this for a living. You are arguing with yourself, and its embarrassingly obvious for everyone to see. Feel free to bud out, as no one asked you specifically and you are not omnipotent. A low mile car traded somewhere very close around $2M. if you believe that info is false and damages the body of knowledge here, I guess that's too bad. It's information you had which you didn't share so why not just keep quiet? God knows how many times you have colored, altered, and padded "the truth" while hiding behind your private treaty vail expecting everyone to take your word as gospel. Aren't you becoming anymore introspective in your older age?

thank you for calling me smart.

I'm calling the owners who don't come on here spreading misinformation smart, if you were smart, 24 hours later, you'd have let this go, meanwhile I'm confident you know I'd be happy to debate you to kingdom come on the nonsense you started.

I'm delighted with another great deal so there is no need for me to be frustrated, and the only person who is arguing facts you're unaware of is yourself.

Again, let's review based on the facts:

First you said the F40 I sold was "sold for 2m plus vig"

    That's completely false, AKA misinformation.

Then you said "there is no difference between 1.9 and 2.1"

That's also completely false, the difference is $200,000, and as a matter of fact, the car did not sell for $1.9m either, you are simply guessing.

That's basically all there is to this discussion.

Perhaps there is some confusion as to what my role is. I'm an independent specialist, free to work with who I want to work with, and I make a point of that. My job is to create reality in the marketplace with accuracy, not talk numbers up like potential sellers do, or talk them down as buyers do, I have a specific history of doing just that in the market over number of decades through various ups & downs, I never pad numbers one way or another, because there is no need for me to do so, they speak for themselves. Think of me as a referee who doesn't mind wether numbers are up, down, or sideways, my job, like a referee, is to make the right call and just tell it like it is wether that;s popular or not.

Meanwhile, look on the bright side, at least you know about the accuracy of your source's information or lack thereof - that's assuming you weren't trying to talk numbers up yourself and what you posted was exactly what your source told you ;)

Meanwhile, always remember, for some people, Silence is Golden.

Don't worry about it, I forgive you completely.

Joe, you’ve made this statement a few times now and I gather you misread the original post (quoted below) as it absolutely did not say the F40 you sold was sold for 2m plus vig. The post didn’t mention you at all and Ricky has since made it clear he didn’t know you were involved in the transaction. How could he? After all, many of these cars do trade hands without your involvement. In that way it would have been impossible for him to “check with me [you] about my [your] own deals.” Also note he qualified the price with “apparently” so doubling down on your incorrect statements is even more bizarre. Is this really a hill worth dying on?

Nobody's dying on any hill, and I didn't misread the original post, we are talking about the same car, small world.

Bear in mind that he responded to my original clarification of erroneous information with the comment "Nice". What caused this debate is when I said "Silence is Golden", he then said "No such thing in the car world". I disagree. Besides the obvious misinformation, that's specifically what I'm doubling down on.

    There is nothing to debate.
    Nice meant nice, congrats.
If you wanted silence you wld not have responded to my post, thats a fact.
If you wanted the forum know of the sale, you wld have posted something, thats a fact.
Given i dont have access to anyone’s private treaty information id say ive nailed buying cars and my advice to others has always been sound.
Wrt to the 2m car, maybe my info is actually better than yours? Cld it be you got played a little bit?

Ross, the car i’m referring to is a usa car.

Agree. A "tease but no reveal" is an old used car salesman's tactic, but doesn't really work on an internet forum with well-informed people.

Again, it appears people have selective reading, I simply said, Silence is Golden to help him understand my mindset and left it at that.

He then responded that there is No such thing in the car world.

That's not true, and that comment invited this discussion. Perhaps he would have been better off understanding my comment and leaving it at that, rather than making a generalized remark which can't possibly be true for all people in the car world, he happened to be talking to one person who it's not true for.

The way a Private Treaty business such as ours works is, the details remain Private, no tease, just normal protocol, internet aside, it works in the real world of collectors who own and trade these cars.

    Not even remotely close.

Sorry, in my business I handle all the financials off the transaction, zero chance I'm played, I know you have no idea of the specifics and are just guessing, the fact is, all the details of the deal are proprietary to Joe Sackey Classics, and as such, I'm in a position to definitely say when someone is dissemination misinformation, without revealing the sales price in any way.

Take a look at some of the F40s we have sold in recent times on these pages, you'll notice something consistent:

We don't ever reveal the selling price, and if asked, we certainly don't come on here and talk numbers up like some people do.

Even in this very thread discussing F40 values we absolutely never reveal client's proprietary information, but rather give guidance to the market in a useful way:
