The rules on P&R posts in the open forums have been effective on this site almost since it's founding 20 years ago. We have a private section for discussion of political and religious topics where users across the political spectrum go at it.

7-day ban for using "code words" to discuss the politicization of social media in an open forum.

    It's not the success.

Pos(t)er boy is nothing without Merc. Max or Ricci in a Merc would be WDC's.

I've joked about wanting william banned for his incessant support of hamilton on a Tifosi forum. But now that he finally is, I find myself scratching my head.

I'm not really sure how his post crossed the line. I've read his offending words and your explanation, and still don't see it.

    I guess it matters not.

On a semi-related note: Lando Norris just seems a completely likable chap. His Friday Radio Check still makes me laugh as did a lot of his e-racing videos from the downtime.

I keep asking my Brit F1 ham fans why not fly their Union Jack in support of Lando in his Brit McLaren and just forget about #44? The orange cars aren't quite as fast (yet), but everyone likes an underdog. Especially Last Lap Lando!!

Looks like a mess on aisle F1.

Folks here who complain Hamilton is not 'sticking to F1' and 'should keep his political opinions to himself.'

Ironically by doing what? Repeatedly keeping politics in F1' (forum)

    (sigh)

some folks truly need to look in the mirror.

    Got the ban sticks ready..

Through with F1 until Hamilton is punished for his shirt on the podium.

As a courtesy, John this is a warning not to post any political or religious content on the F1 forum. The position of the management of the site is a clear delineation of content. The F1 forum will be limited only F1 topics. Folks that wish to discuss Politics and Religion are welcome to participate in that forum or create a sidebar.

Some folks ask why we have this rule? Well, quite simple, Politics and Religion have the tendency to drive the conservation off-topic. Due to the inherent tangents that Politics and Religion create, we keep those topics in its own separate section for those that seek it. Please, no cries of censorship or 'thought/speech control' since you are all welcome to participate to your heart's content in that section.

Again, I just find it ironic that the very folks who think Hamilton should just drive and keep his personal politics out of F1 - are some of the same people who seem to refuse to obey what they supposedly preach.

The only line crossed is talking about Politics and Religion in a forum where we've made it clear that content is not allowed. If one simply cannot control themselves, they are welcome to create a sidebar in the conversations feature or go to our Politics and Religion forum to discuss with no limitations. In fact there is a thread in Politics and Religion dedicated to Hamilton - enjoy!

I argue it is akin if members started posting many threads about food in the F1 forum.

We have a forum here on Fchat dedicated to food.

If you or anyone wants to discuss politics (or food), be our guest - in the appropriate sections.

If, after warnings to a member not to post recipes about cakes in this F1 area (instead of posting in the food forum here) - we would also ban them.

Why not simply move the thread to P&R (or move just the offending posts to a new one in P&R), where based on the discussion it pretty clearly now belongs, thanks to the actions of the subject of the thread?

Seems a more constructive approach than banning a dozen people for discussing something in an F1 forum that an F1 driver did on an F1 podium during an F1 race broadcast.

The Daily Mail is hardly a reputable source!

According to the BBC it's not clear what rule he might have transgressed.

IMO sportspeople should be neutral when competing for a country or a team. The look on Wolff face was a picture.

LH actually diluted the cause by taking that stance on the rostrum, thats not the place. I would have more respect for him if he conducted his concern off track and helped directly and out of public view. For that it shows a complete lack of integrity and acting in an idiotic way.

Fair enough, however, I think everyone has a voice or the right to speak, athlete or not. At the same i agree with most, i prefer not to see it in F1

Benson's a choir boy and the BBC has embraced moral inversion with gusto.

Irrespective of what the FIA doesn't do (it's under duress),
everyone knows poster boy's not wearing any clothes,
whether they voice it or not (duress).

Tradition is fine, and everyone agrees it's with good intentions, but F1 has changed. If the discussion is about what takes place on track and it's civil, it seems fair to allow it. Discussing on track behavior and FIA's policy in the P&R seems counterintuitive.

If LH's actions took place outside the track discussing them here would be more akin to discussing recipes, but they're taking place on track.
