MY soon to arrive 1989 testarossa has a standard exhaust that I will be changing when it arrives. Its a non cat car UK car. I've seen the numerous posts on which people think is best and I have a capristo system on my 599 which I love. My preference is to go louder. I know the capristo system is expensive. On one of my other cars non ferrari cars I had a custom stainless steel exhaust made by a good local specialist. I wo dear whether I should do the same. It would be cheaper and I should get something a bit special. Has anyone done this themselves .. does anyone think this is the wrong decision?

Going from the headers to the muffler is usually customized. The muffler is usually bought and has the muffler tips on them.

If you can find the right builder, bespoke is a great option. You take a risk though on the final product, but on the upside, the results could blow away a capristo. Mine came out amazing:

It's fabricated in place, I haven't removed it so no images of it how it sits. I could snap some photos of the underside if you'd like, but this fabricator is US only and you have to bring your car to him to perform the work.

I ran an X-ost on my 89 and loved it. It’s now on a euro 512TR and it sounds incredible having no cats or pre-cats

I replaced the resonators with the factory test pipes and the sound was just right.
