First off I want to thank everyone here on fchat for their support and help over the years of 308 ownership I have enjoyed this community. It is unlike any other group I’ve experienced. Many of you are familiar with my resto/mod which is documented here on fchat.
My intent was to drive this car until my last breath but as usual God had different plans. As the years accumulated on my clock my diabetes has taken a toll the worst of which is peripheral neuropathy in my feet. ( hence the reason for adding cruise control). Anyway I can no longer enjoy my love and have sold/traded Crowndog’s Adventure. Something that was just as painful as my foot condition.
    I traded for a car with a manual/automatic.
Big Swole posted some pictures of its new home. David is a really great guy and my wish is that everyone welcome and help him out as you all did with me. Both of us are now in uncharted territory.

And so I bid farewell as an owner but obviously will still hang out and occasionally put in my $.02.

Part of our exchange landed this in my driveway:

So if anyone can recommend a forum I have much to learn.
I won’t say goodbye because you never know what the future brings and perhaps one day.......

Happy trails. We will miss you. I cannot deny I followed the engine build and car refurbishment with great interest. Awesome car. Glad it went to a good home. I am also glad you found a way to soldier on with new wheels that work for you.

Thank you to all of you. I tried to give back as much as I could. Honestly get choked up thinking about the past years here and all the crazy topics we conversed about. Great great memories and yes I will poke my head in from time to time.

My apologies, Crowndog. The correct website is pelicanparts.com. It's a plethora of information.

The 308 is a great and fun car but ownership is contingent. If my left knee ever goes out I’ll probably get an Alfa 4C.

It's interesting that a number of us seem to have aged out of our 308s. I also thought that I'd own mine forever and took care of it in that manner. But as the years added on, I'm afraid that it got harder for me to drive it. It's not that I'm an old decrepit dude or anything, but I don't think I attack things with the same relish that I did 20 years ago.

So I moved on from the 308 to a more comfortable, flappy paddle, high powered mid-engine car with a lower visual profile than the 308. I can pass virtually anything on the road without the drama that was present with the 308. Very convenient on long road trips in the West. It has proven to be quite satisfactory, but it will never have the feel of a 308. I still think that car is one of the high water marks of Ferrari. It looks as stunning now as it did when it came out. Driving it is a blast. I remember when my wife and I took it out for our last drives. We both were a little torn as to whether we really should sell it. I still am, quite honestly...

That said, I still enjoy visiting FChat every now and then. The 308 section is probably the most interesting forum of any car forum I frequent. (Well, BAT is a whole bunch of fun too, I guess.) There's a forum for my new car and it has endless discussions about carbon fiber bits and pieces and whether or not their exhaust is loud enough. Not terribly interesting and certainly not as interesting as some of the projects on the 308 section, such as the famous Crowndog's adventure.

Agreed on every point. Maybe we should start a past owners grieving support group?

Would be hard to say goodbye to my 308. I will simply pass her on to my son, who loves the car as much as I do....and no doubt he will do the same to his...

I'm sorry I missed this thread until just now. I hope you're enjoying the Turbo S as much as I did.

I love the 308 with the exception of how hot it's been down here and my lack of tolerance of Modern Air Conditioning to keep me from sweating my brains out. It cools okay for some folks, but as you remember, I'm VERY hot natured. So, I've not been able to enjoy the car like I should in this weather.

I'm SO looking forward to cooler temps here so I can actually enjoy driving this car. I'm not going to lie though. I MISS my Turbo badly. I see another in my future fairly soon.

Here's my "First Ferrari" thread after driving up to deliver my Turbo S and picking up the 308 to bring it back to the Atlanta GA area.
