I barely watch car racing, so I am sure that my question is a dumb one. Years ago in the day of Schumacher, Ferrari won a lot.

Is there a brief explanation as to what happened, and is Ferrari that worried about it?

Well, if the answer was easy, they'd already fixed it.

Of course this is the internet so everybody is a ****ing expert.

Not really. They keep firing their best people. Remember Arrivabene? He delivered Ferrari's first championship capable car in a long time, and they fired him for it. They fired the guy that delivered a championship level car and kept the guy who lost it for them. Before that, MdM cleared out the people that brought them vast success. Brawn, Todt, Schumacher.

I wonder how many years they will be holding on to Binotto. They love donkeys, so he'll be there for a long time.

Italy suffered mightily during the pandemic, I have to believe that it affected Ferrari to a degree.

Yes, BUT they developed the car before it hit. There's no explaining away the donkeys this year.

Agree and it also must suspect that previous years powerful engine was also not 'legal'???? The aero has been bad for 3 years now.

Guess it's mainly a management problem.
Uk is suffering more and for a longer time.
Not a valid excuse for Ferrari
Binotto is a very good technical director but a mediocre team leader

They seem to have trouble building a competitive aero/chassis package. Last year, they made up for these deficiencies with a world-beating power unit. This year Ferrari has made changes to their PU after an end-of-season investigation by F1, and they no longer can simply "turn the wick up" to get speed.

This year they promise significant aero upgrades for the Hungary races. Fingers crossed they will be able to put the pieces together for the rest of the season.

If you remember, it took several (3) years for Michael and Brawn, to pull the team out of a decades long drought before they hit their stride and took championship after campionship.

    Bad team member choices {getting rid of too soon, keeping too long}
Italian politics running the team. Here you need a man of words, vision, honor, and courage to control the Italians.

    Winning is expensive
    ROI in f1 is nil
They sell all the cars they make so there's no need to win
Just be sort of competitive and everybody happy

They function like a B team. Car is mediocre. When car is good team strategy falls apart. When car and strategy are good drivers defeat each other and those around them gain ground. Team is under constant stress be it moral, intra team rivalry, car performance. They have not been able to put all the pieces together like merc

Dare I say that Ferrari has been for too long in F1?
You cannot constantly regenerate a company, and Ferrari has been at it for 70 years now.
    That's more than most business.
I expect a lot of flack for saying that !!

    And well deserved flak.

They've been in the road cars business for about the same time and those are selling like hot cakes, you're wrong so let the flak come.

I am not talking about the road car business, but the racing side, the Scuderia.
You cannot repeat success for ever.
As for the road cars, Ferrari will survive with electric SUVs like the rest of the industry.

You didn´t say anything about F1. You said that a company can´t be regenerated forever. Ferrari has been regenerating for 70 years in the road car business just like they´ve been doing in F1: they had good and bad times, but kept going.

Meanwhile Haas only has been racing for 3 years and they already suck. I think you don´t have a point.

Ok, my bad. I'm still an amateur regarding missing things when compared to you.

Still, you're wrong. F1 today is not like in 1947, just like road cars were different but Ferrari still is selling them now. Your reasoning has not any substance.

I can give as much flak as you wish.
