Jodi used to wear her wedding ring on her index finger. A friend of hers asked her why she wore it on the wrong finger. She said because she married the wrong man.........

An ex-Treasury friend advised me a while ago that a proposal has been circulating in Canberra to introduce land tax on the family home, with the threshold set at $1m of rateable value. This of course captures a large number of "ordinary" homes in Melbourne and Sydney, including elderly people who've been in the same house for most of their lives. Today it's being tested in the AFR, which is how government's assess the public mood: https://www.afr.com/policy/tax-and-super/our-worst-tax-opt-in-stamp-duty-in-tax-overhaul-20200531-p54y1n Jobkeeper will be paid for by people who worked hard to have a nice home, while swinging voters in marginal seats get off free. We weren't given the opportunity to vote for Jobkeeper, but will have no choice about paying for it. The new tax will be sold with a line that stamp duty will be abolished and various other sweeteners. Anyone with a memory will recall that GST used similar promises, few of which came true. Over time more and more houses will be caught in the tax net, so this built-in bracket creep will be loved by public servants. Stamp duty should have been abolished long ago, but the fair way to replace it is by reducing the vast amount of wasteful state govt spending that has accumulated over the last 20 years. e.g. $11Bn for the empty trams that roll up and down George St in Sydney.
NBN, "the Education Revolution", NDIS, Seasprite helicopters, Submarines - the list goes on. Billions wasted and nobody is ever held to account.
If this really came out of a Lab I hope the whole world holds them accountable....But I doubt it...Money talks bullschit walks...

Better than some - "Sweden is by no means the worst afflicted European nation. Its rate of 44 deaths per 10,000 residents is streets ahead of Britain, Italy, Spain and Belgium - all of which had harsher lockdowns. Boris Johnson would likely love to have Sweden’s problem."
I talked to a mate in the UK the other day, said he lost two Uncles to Coronavirus last month. Said they were healthy and in their 60's, no underlying health conditions that he knew about. It was his Dad's brothers and he was close to both of them he said which is very sad.
Wonder if there’ll be another spike in two weeks’ time from all the f-wits at the virtue signalling protests?

Yeah I saw that Karen... It’s fantastic for CX to have the HKG govt on board... It’s been a very long time coming. I still don’t think international travel will recover until well into next year...
Yeah thanx Chin, gotta wait up to 48 hours for results. Did find out though that Atherton has had 2 cases back in March from returned travellers. I'll be shore to bring it on the GG.
