Swap Claire for Claudia . Looking like another Canadian F1 team is about to be born,as Latifi rides into town to pick up the pieces.Another wonder boy with a guaranteed drive...
May the Lord be with them. The vultures are circling https://www.planetf1.com/news/williams-rich-energy/
Ugh, the FIA gave Flavio Cheatatore a life time ban from F1, can't they give every joker involved in Poor Energy a life time ban too for bringing the sport into disrepute. I feel we're back to the Jean Pierre VanRossem days of hucksters here. Who thought Andrea Sassetti would appear like a stand up team owner. Who next, Vic Lee?
https://www.planetf1.com/news/bernie-ecclestone-hunt-for-williams-buyer/ Bernie Ecclestone is “looking around” for a buyer for Williams but concedes that owning a F1 team is a “very expensive hobby”.
https://www.planetf1.com/news/bernie-ecclestone-hunt-for-williams-buyer/ Formula 1 managing director of motorsport Ross Brawn says that Williams has "fairly serious people" considering an investment in the team as it looks to improve its chances of survival. Last week Williams confirmed that it is actively seeking new funding, and that it was potentially for sale as a complete entity. However deputy team principal Claire Williams has insisted that the Grove outfit has the funds with which to contest the 2020 season. It recently arranged loans that pumped £28m into the organisation. The co-incidental timing of the end of the current Concorde Agreement means that all 10 teams have to be confident in their future prospects in order to sign a new deal. McLaren boss Zak Brown cautioned in April that several team might not survive the COVID-19 crisis without help from future rule changes. Those rule changes have now been made, and Brawn is confident that all current teams will now be able to commit to the future, including Williams. "I think without the things we did it would have been much more worrying, but it's pretty stable," Brawn told Autosport.

These guys are only interested in keeping the team alive until some buyer appears, and the new owner probably will want to change the name. So it seems that these are the last days of Williams. Very sad, but it was expected.
F1 is business after all, so that's to be expected. When I see what happened to Lotus (resurrected twice), maybe the name Williams should also be left to fade away.
The details in the contract must be fascinating. How much does Williams Claire and Frank make if they are sold out again etc. Given the fluid nature of the world with respect to COVID, and business in general, Im not optimist for fortunes at Williams. They missed the chance to clone a Mercedes. The new rules and cost structure might help. Will the new owners be as patient. Upwards of 3 years to actually implement new rules, new car etc then show results lol. Risky.
Not necessarily, Williams could just recreate it from casually looking at some photographs - Racing Point has proved how easy it would be
With the current Merc nearly 1 second faster than anything else in the field (except a copy of the 2019 car) the was forward (faster cars) is likely to be found in copying the current Mercedes.
The news on William's today means that Sir Frank Williams ended his tenure as a team owner at the SpanishGP 2020, 51 years after he first entered F1 at the same event in 1969.
