Hi, good friend in Las Vegas is looking to buy a 246.

He owns a 355, but has the itch for something a bit more vintage!

He doesn't "do" internet forums, so I told him I'd post a want ad for him here.

He prefers a GT, but would consider a GTS.

Looking for a rougher car he can restore back to glory his way. Not a BS guy, and ready to write a check for the right car and a realistic seller.

Thank you, let me know via PM, and I'll get you two in touch ASAP.

Hi Scott. He’s a bit of an open book. But call it $50K to $150K depending on how rough or the extent of needs. Thanks

The rough stuff at gullwing might suit him. But I think they start over $150.

I would be really interested what type of Dino could be bought for that range.

why? If you spent $100K on a project Dino you think it wouldn’t run 200k + in restoration costs?

    I 100% agree.

Although I agree with the math, that doesn’t mean it makes sense from a reality perspective.
The last Dino I saw sub $100 k was years ago and a complete and total wreck, literally half of the car and chassis not even there.

That particular car would have cost far more than $200k to restore.

His expectations aren’t realistic at all. Realistically, a rough, rough, rusty non running Dino would be $190-$200K, if available and someone willing to part with it. A solid running Dino w/needs would be $225-$250K. The Gullwing cars aren’t too out of line with their pricing. He’s best to get a complete car since many of the parts are unavailable, hard to find/expensive or expensive/time consuming to create. There are no “donor” Dinos like other cars. If his budget was in the $225 to $250K range, he may get lucky.

    Update.

My buddy in Vegas is still looking. Open to 330 GT too.

Anyone looking to move their project or scruffy driver, he wants to buy asap.

I think your current price expectations are unrealistic. You should create a spreadsheet on sales of Dinos and 330GT’s for the past years. Before 2007, it was possible to find rough basket case 250GTE’s and 330GT’s for less than $50K. Not the case anymore. They were mostly being sold and parted out. Not many left.

Lots of things about me and cars and prices are unrealistic. I am jaded beyond belief. Would you believe me if I told you I paid $60K for a DB5 project in 2012?

It just takes patience and turning over many stones. There can be 20 years of data on excels, spreadsheets, HAGI, Hagerty, all of it, but sometimes deals come up.

Hoping Troy (my friend) can find a deal.

buy a “done” car. as the saying goes, “pay for the restoration, get the car for free”.

if it was me buying for myself, I agree. He wants a scruffy driver or a project. Not my choice or my money lol

the “how” I found a DB5 is luck and timing. I had gone back into an older AMOC directory and found this guy in Wisconsin. He said “yeah, I have one, it’s a project in my storage shed in N Carolina. Call me back in 6 months”

So I did. Got it out of there. Back up to CT and inventoried the parts. Sold it to the prime minister of Kuwait.

    It was a good time.

The story didnt end there though :)

I mentioned this in another thread on here awhile ago

This was #1489L, and when I deployed Kuwait/Iraq 2015/16 I had a few days off when I got back from Iraq, and in the back streets of Kuwait City (near the Lotus Dealership if anyone knows that area) the Prime Minister had a car museum. Low and behold, guess what I found, 5 years later :)
