I saw your post and the final pedal looks amazing. Would you mind sharing the cad file? Maybe I can modify for the 360?

Fyi- I have an aftermarket carbon steel clutch pedal in my e36. You could easily fab a carbon steel clutch pedal as well... until you were able to source the fancy al part.

360/430 use a completely different pedal box to 599/612- the CAD file honestly wouldn’t help you I’m afraid.

One thing to consider about the clutch pedal. It's not like the brake or gas. People don't punch the clutch or stomp on it. It's gently pressed and rarely to full length. I doubt very much if more than 20 lbs. of force is used to operate it. I had a 40 lb. clutch on my 911 and that one was a bear to operate in traffic but still, not nearly the force the brake can take. I suspect a brake pedal can have 100 lbs. of force applied regularly.

A carbon or fiberglass pedal with a steel shaft would be fine.

The gate itself could be made from aluminum with a steel backing plate to keep the aluminum from wearing down. The plate could be water cut and the gate easily machined with the average cnc machine. Another way to make it would be to use aluminized epoxy with the backer plate. It wouldn't be factory but would work great.

If I ever undertook such a conversion, I would likely make a lot of the parts by copying them from my gated 360. It would be great to do a conversion with a gated car as a model.

Its actually not that bad. I removed it all by myself. used a jack and strapped it to the jack. Moved it back off the motor andthen turned it sideways and lowered under the rear support bar.

Do you have the insructions on how to get around the electrical changes/harnesses? You have some courage and skill!!!

I think this would be really cool to try on a california.

From what I read, there are only 2 Californias ever made!

As far as instruction, its pretty simple. Ferrari basically built the 360 the same and just added the F1 system the the car. So all of the electrical is basically there. Even the plug for the reverse sensor on the manual shift box. There is only one thing that needs to be changed and thats the bypass loop for the starter, since the F1 provides power from the TCU.

Thanks. I can't wait for a report on how that works out because I'd like my next clutch to be kevlar as well.

On the electronics side (you probably already know this), you’ll need to get the ecus reflashed for manual mode, and the get the dash reconfigured for manual.

Good opportunity to get some tuning upgrades at the same time!
