They are glued on with epoxy. The bosses on the rear are just to locate the badge onto the plenum. The carbon plenums have two different carbon badges depending on year of manufacture. The threaded studs on the rear are just to locate them (I've no idea why they are supplied with nuts!).

I know this is an old thread, but just in case someone finds it (like me) on the search for the best way to remove this badge:

Mine (2007 F430 coupe) was glued on with silicone and was relatively easy to remove with a flat enough blade (see photo)

Nice work! Assuming that you didn’t have to pry it at all right? Just slowly tap the flat blade in until the glue gives?

I just pushed the tool in and turned it... that made the badge pop out.
If the glue is stronger I would recommend using something like dental floss as a "saw" to gently cut some of the silicone. That was my plan but the badge came out very easily

Thank you. Your instruction finally gave me the testicular fortitude to take this on. Ordered a carbon version today. Special order though so it will take about a month to get it.

So my next question is any tips on who can refinish it for me? I polished it up but the epoxy is cloudy / heat damaged. Needs to be sanded down a bit and a new top coat of epoxy or clear applied.

I reached out to MaCarbon already, they did excellent work on my air intakes, but haven’t heard back yet.

MACarbon or Carbonio, for sure. I'm not if either has North America-based capacity (I simply don't know), but indeed they're the go-to folks IMHO.

Thinking I have some time today and even if a shop agreed to do it, I’m sure it wouldn’t be a priority and take longer than I’d like. so I refinished it myself.

A few Kona Longboards, Hair Nation, and great weather.

Used 1000 grit to start, added a couple drops of dawn to some water and started wet sanding. I used the green rubber block for the edges, it came from a touch-up kit I had. Worked awesome.

Then 2000 grit wet, then I moved to a 3000 sponge and finally a 5000 sponge, both wet.

The sponges worked great, but they didn’t quite get the corners as well as I needed, so I used a felt cone and my dremel with ultra-cut to polish out the 2000 grit scratches in the corners as best I could.

A pic of what I used:

After sanding, I hit it with a dremel mounted 1/2” wool pads, finishing with microfiber and Swirl Remover.

I’m very happy with how it turned out.
