Thankfully, it smells like roses!!! However, the trunk of my 85 Quattroporte, well - that’s another story and yes, certain that it resembles the smell on yours ;)

Ha! And here I thought I came up with a totally unique idea... the trunk of my 550 very much resembles this pic!

    Happy holidays all!

Replaced all of the rubber brake hoses. What a monumental pain in the ass!
At first glance it looks so easy as all the connections are in plain sight. Get your stubbies, crow's foot wrenches ready.
brake hoses without the Ferrari tax are available from Vintage Imports Carlisle, OH. 937 550 4509
They show SS braided on their website but Matt will make them up in rubber on request. The set of eight cost less than ONE in a yellow box.
FYI the hoses on 400's are all same length

Good to know all the same length. Are the end fittings all the same as well? If so I could just remove one and get a complete set made in advance.

Hello everyone......make sure you get the correct brake hoses, early 400 series 1 cars ARE all eight hoses the same...late series 2 cars are 4 front & 4 different rear hoses.

Looks like Superformance "has it together" listing kits by model. This item is not on this winter's R&R list, maybe next winter.

And I got in a drive today. The starter only needed servicing and everything is serviceable including the solenoid. It really is a very well built starter right down to the brush holders, its a pleasure just to look at. The brush material they used is such that the brushes and com bars gently wear at the same rate with nothing really getting worn out from use. The solenoid contacts just needed dressing and the motor bushings lubricated to make it happy again.

I've serviced one long ago, and the bakelite shims were brittle, they eventually fell apart later. Maybe the spark on the solenoid contact is to be blamed. I would change these for piece of mind.

The 412 starter is even better.

Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Well the "plan"'was to do some interior cleaning and Leatherique on the leather parts. Well rather than trying to fit myself in the back seat to work I took the back seat to the bench to do the work. I think I'll be able to do a much better job especially since removing the parts uncover areas that normally can't be treated. After searching this section of FChat I decided against removing the rear side panels since you have to unstick the leather from the door frame to remove them.

Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login So the Leatherique instructions say warmer temps work better. To do this I put the parts in the bathroom and used an electric heater to raise the temp to 80°. The parts sat over night with the heater turned off (I don't trust electric heaters!) and not much of the rejuvenator had soaked in. After warming to room up to 80° in just a couple of hours a lot has been soaked up. The parts will definitely need another coat. I also put a small heater in the car to warm it up and can tell this product definitely likes a slightly elevated temperature to work its best. I also included a couple of garage pictures because why not!
