I was in an elevator at my office building wearing a F shirt with a very small horsey emblem on the front. Guy in the elevator says “ I see you have the shirt ,but do you have the car “? I said yes , which he replied “sure you do”. Lol.
Two responses. Before I bought my first Ferrari, someone asked me while I was wearing a hat whether I owned one. I said no, not yet. He gave me a bit of a snort and said something like “You shouldn’t be wearing that if you don’t own one.” I smiled and said perhaps you’re right. So how long have you played for the Steelers? Second, some time later, I walked in to work wearing a shirt with a nice Cavallino above the pocket. A co- worker walking the other way said jokingly “So how does that work? If you buy the car you get a free shirt?” I said yeah, something like that. A few weeks later I drive the 328 to work one Friday morning, and pulled in to the parking lot about the same time as that same coworker. He stood there staring at me and said “Holy ****!! I thought I was just messing with you!!”
I think anyone who asks must be a car person so we have something in common. Dont care if he is into Ferrari or Checker Marathon we have something in common. Car people should be car people. Strangers can be friends you just haven't met yet.
The correct answer is "Man, I wish, I dream. Have you got one ? What's your favorite ?" Then you are bonded with him. Works for me every time.
I only wear a jeep hat when in the Ferrari. never had someone come up and ask if I owned a jeep due to the hat. I've had people ask me if that's my wrangler out front to talk jeeps when we're at our favorite places. I've had people ask if that's my Ferrari out front to talk cars when we're at our favorite places. none of that has ever been a problem. I usually go out to the vehicle to continue the chat. Why would anyone be unhappy with someone approaching them baed on what they have on? the solution would be to put something else on.
Wow, does that bring back memories. Before my father bought a 1961 Pontiac Catalina, he actually looked at a Checker Marathon. As a teenager I said Dad I will die if I have to be seen in a taxi cab. But as the slogan used to say, "Don't take a chance, take a Checker"!
Yes. For this reason, I wear lots of logo clothing. Nothing too ostentatious, I think, mostly plus with little logos. T
I don’t mind admitting it to strangers or friends. I just tried to be as humble and low key about it as possible; but also describe the allure of the car as more than just any expensive sports car. I have a FCA sticker on the back of my pickup, a nice reminder of the fruits of my labor since I rarely see my car. However, every so often one of the field guys at my projects will walk by and ask about it, and depending on who it is I’ll usually just say I’m a fan of the brand. I try to keep it under wraps at work unless I’m certain it’s a fellow car enthusiast.

Something similar happened to me once, was wearing a Metallica T-Shirt and this guy from my class comes, thinking he’s some hot shot, “name 10 Metallica songs” and it just so happened that had very recently and very illegally downloaded a bunch of them and was able to rattle them off one by one. It’s been more than 10 years and I still chuckle whenever I think about it... lol Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
