So I got grommet installed and still have rattle. My next area to explore would be where the engine cradle attaches to the upper right hand side of the car. Could be a loose bolt. I will probably have to remove the oil tank to have access to these bolts. It’s a process of elimination. Any thoughts?

What about the srung brackets securing the exhaust box? Also, the rear bumper mounts?

If it was me I would go around the components and and try and grab each piece and try and shake it in cae there is any pay?

One final thing sometimes the arch liners can not be secured to the inner lip of the wheel arch or to each other?

It’s sounds like someone is taking a hammer and tapping on the firewall right behind the passenger seat. Almost sounds like it’s inside the cabin.

I have been unable to find the torques for the subframe bolts. If the knock is from there, you will find the bolts rather loose so just tighten them by feel judging by the bolt diameter. If you are able to measure the diameter of the bolts and see their grade (stamped on the bolt head, probably 8.8 or 10.9), you can then use the table below for the torque setting.

Thanks Stojanovic, all is well at that location.

I’m thinking it could be the right rear shock causing a rattle. Could the shock be malfunctioning and causing the noise? If so, what next, shock is not leaking. All bushings seem to be tight and ok as I pried around the areas. For a noise to occur I would think the shock would be very stiff. Any thoughts?

I thought you had a berlinetta
What about the tank and pump for the soft top.
The problem is like others have said you should go shake things
There is a lot of potential possibilities.
    Just thought of something else,
A loose battery in behind the passenger front tire

Sorry for the 3 year late response. It ended being the engine bonnet latch. Hope all is well down under!

    Hi Buzzl,

I have a similar issue, are you saying it was the bonnet release latch inside the cabin, or the mechanism in the engine bay that keeps the bonnet closed? Been bugging me for years now.

The mechanism in the engine bay
