How do we disconnect the valves on the OEM exhaust to make them be open at all times? Sent from my Pixel 4 XL using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Pull the vacuum hoses off the solenoids on the back boxes and plug them with a pair of screws or golf tees. But considering the fact that your car is a GT, why not install a Capristo valve controller? That way you retain the ability to run the valves in stock mode if needed be. Is there a significant difference in dB only using the valve controller or is an upgrade of the rear section also the way to go?
Definitely no use of doing one without the other. Start with a controller and see how you like that. Then you can look into a box, x pipe etc. if you want more. If you get back boxes etc. a controller is nice. You may want to be able ti quiet it down occassionally. Sent from my SM-G930F using FerrariChat.com mobile app
The controller is on its way, but I have no patience and I need them to be nice and open for this weekend's Enzo Ferrari's tribute event. Don't they have to be open when I remove the vacuum hoses? How do I get them to an open position? Thanks Sent from my Pixel 4 XL using FerrariChat.com mobile app
A bunch of us are driving to the Enzo event from the South Bay if you are interested. We are meeting up at 6:45am in Torrance. PM me if you are interested. I believe the valves fail open. Pulling the lines would leave the valves open.
I am bringing a 4yr old and 1.5yr old. Believe me, you do not want to wait for me. Sent from my Pixel 4 XL using FerrariChat.com mobile app
When there's no vacuum, the valves are open, the vacuum closes them. So no worries, just remove the hoses. Just make sure to plug them and the nipples on the solenoids to keep the system clean. The solenoids you can just seal with a bit of duct tape. Sent from my SM-G930F using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Without the rear boxes the gain is marginal. Valves open At 3/4k rpm. The main issue with the ff sound to me is that inside is too insulated to it sounds better outside than inside. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I found this video interesting and wanted to share. he has heard and used the full Novitec system in another video but as a daily he chose to only use the controller to keep the valves always open.
Will keeping the valves open affect the engine performance? I thought back pressure has something to do power output for a naturally aspirated engine.
You will lose some low end torque and response. There's no free lunch. Sent from my SM-G930F using FerrariChat.com mobile app
I have never noticed anything other than it sounds better. You can hear the difference here:- from 5mins in.
I wired off the exhaust valves of the F12 yesterday, zip tied + plugged the hoses and put caps on the actuators ports. It took me 1 hour with a simple hydraulic jack (bolted off the rear wheels). The sound is not so loud, less than I thought but present since idle as awaited. I didn't noticed any low end loss although I agree it should. I highly recommand this mod, very very pleasant.
