After the Atlas Mountain tour and meal, we returned to Marrakech and went to the Jemaa el-fna outdoor square/market for the “festivities” (snake charmers, monkey wranglers, story tellers, “rolexx” salesmen, ya know).

Decided to temp fate and eat at one of the many pop-up outdoor “restaurants” that aggressively hawk their meals there. (I blame any resultant tummy troubles on Ania, whose insistence we give it a try won the day...)

Eatery booth number 17 had the most successful hawker and the freshest looking, least fly covered food we saw...thus this meal happened...

    - Mixed meat skewers
    - Mixed grilled seafood
    - assorted veggies and some bread

All sorta meh, with a touch of fear. Good times...

It would be the opposite with the missus. The only place she let me get adventurous was Japan, because every place we visited was immaculate...T

We did chef's salad the other night after a few heavy meals in a row.

    Last night, pizza.

Borrowed a trick from my grandma. Got home late and we were starving. So, I halved a bolillo, spread tomato sauce and mozz. Baked it, while making the other pizzas. My grandma would whip l Italian bread "pizzas" for a quick meal when we were kids.

Cheese pie. Oregano, garlic powder, basil and black pepper on top.

This dough that I picked up at Central Market. Not bad. Forgot to snap an after pic.

Tom - When you say Pinquitos, do you mean the actual Santa-Maria Pinquitos or Pink Beans?

Good catch. I don't think they are the same as the pink beans you would get with Santa Maria style bbq.

    It was this...

You guys might get them in Cali, but I can't recall ever seeing dried pinquitos for sale here in Texas.

I mail ordered pinquito beans a ton of years ago when I made tri tip for friends, I think it was Susie Q, but it was soooooo long ago, I don't remember how diff it was from the beans we had tonight...T

Ray. Thanks. Yes it is. Diet in the true meaning of the word- what I (now) eat. 2 weeks off insulin and sugars are the same, eating habit the same. (I actually have to add my carbs to my meals to balance them out.) Has to be since I don't want to shoot up any more.

I'm on the incline treadmill every day I am home, no exceptions. Gotta get new clothes.

Ok, I make KILLER lamb meatballs. I grind the lamb myself (has plenty of fat for flavor), fresh chopped rosemary, garlic, feta cheese, eggs, bread crumbs, and pink Himalayan salt.
