Peter, I’m in Bee Cave, near Spicewood and Lakeway, best place to be in Austin in my opinion. Airport is 22 miles from me. Message me if you want to talk.

After a week over 100 my pool water feels more like bath water. There is no chill to it.

2011 had a few more days over 100 (I think 71 versus 69) but they were 100-105 mostly. 1980 had lots of days over 105 up to 113.

So far this year only 3 or 4.

You can get a water cooler for your pool. My aunt and uncle have one.

My pea-brain says if you can get a 500 pound block delivered and if you could chunk it up a bit, you could maybe get 12-18 hours of some level of chilled down.

Welcome to Texas. Check out the town of Wimberley, laid back little place just south of Austin.

Nick, get off the sauce. Ft Worth is CLOSED. You know this.

Nothing we can do to scare off the Californians, sadly. Austin has been lost for years, I'm afraid San Antonio is next.

    :D :D :D :D :D See above comment about Austin.....

At Kroger yesterday; young lady had a pineapple in her cart basket. Upright!
My wife (who I told you story to) took one look @ me, and said
"Cool your jets, you're old enough to be her grandpa!"

Just got turned on to a town called Kerrville that is west of San Antonio. Looks pretty, seems like small town America and very affordable. Can anybody chime in on this town?

It's a decent sized small town. Our company helped put in the utilities for the Riverhill Golf Course and Development in the 70's. Byron Nelson designed the course, and it is a fun layout. Spent a weekend there years ago, and our group of 12 had a great time there.

Also, you have some great driving roads out towards Utopia and Garner State Park. Only about an hour to San Antonio and the airport.

Not a bad place. Not far from a lot of good roads. I think I heard HEB was founded there.

Good feedback. I have not checked yet, should property taxes be a bit lower there?

If you want low property taxes, stay out of Texas. It's how they make up for no income tax. I'm writing my checks now, it sucks. It REALLY sucks.

Not off the table, doing my best to deal with the heat factor.................I know the winter well balances out a couple-three months of hot. The draw is the fabric and genuinely some of the nicest people I have ever met. Also looking into Vegas which is attractive. Jerry was so kind to spend a few hours with my wife and I a couple weeks ago scouting the NW Vegas area which was quite nice. I'd certainly get more home for my dollar in Kerrville though along with that small town America feel.
