First time I saw the 488 GTB headliner I commented holy crap feels and looks like a scourer material. Also the cheap looking standard rear view mirror.

I think both statements are true. A base 488 with all the carbon options will loose a lot more than a bare bones spec. However anyone wanting to buy a "near new" pista for over retail is probably more interested in buying the right car, over the cheapest car.

The 488 and the 488 Pista both won't be as desirable without a certain amount of upgrades including some CF. Folks expect that in such a pricey item. Otherwise it sits until you reduce the price which goes to the argument that there always was an ROI for upgrades such as CF.

But that is for a regular production car. Something like the Pista- needs carbon.

Does anyone have a picture of a Pista lowered that inch ? Wouldn't change the springs but would really like it to sit better.
I'll do mine when it goes for its annual service.

All of the CF options all should have been on the car to begin with as standard but as per usual Ferrari is just being greedy out of habit. Ferrari need to give it up and show some dignity and respect. It's BS what's going on with these so called options. They are not options at all. They are things that should have come on the car as standard equip just being the type of car that it is! Fancy having to pay for these things. Ridiculous! Buyers shouldn't be given a choice other than tick a box if they don't want it and pay the same price regardless. Bit like how Porsche is with the AC and radio etc. It's no cheaper without the radio or AC - its just a choice for the .001% buyers who may want it that way.

Anyone not putting the CF into a Pista has mugged themselves thinking they were saving money. Clearly who ever it was couldn't afford the car to begin with and by sending it off to auction is proof positive of that. 99% of Pista buyers want all the CF. End of story. If this guy dies with it or takes a beating it was by his own hand.

Just drive it faster and it will get lower naturally. Only other option is to change the springs out for stiffer ones.

I think an Lt will hold well. And so far as depreciation goes Ferrari has zero credibility using 488 as one recent example. Insofar as the 488 resale values went my money would have been safer in a 720. The 570 dropped a big bundle I would agree with that. That car fell over a cliff. But an LT version has always shown to be relatively good property and if they make the next one faster and more interesting to drive I think it will be winner.

I know it might sound a bit too much, but I really think CF is a MUST have!

I agree and looked hard at the car but I would want full carbon.. However something unusual was happening in addition to the PISTA ..an F12TDF only bid to 675.. and at one of the other auctions a 458 Special Aperta only bid to 450 ..seems to be low for all of them these were at auctions that had plenty of bidders

No mass produced car will be safe from depreciation over the coming years. Let’s all just enjoy them. The depreciation talk adds nothing of value, really. None of us have a crystal ball. If you did, I’d say quit buying cars immediately and buy stocks.

Yep. A Senna hammered in the $800's...I was shocked how low the values were at the auctions across the board (all exotics).

The 675LT as limited series with 500 units has depreciated about 100-120K€ in 3 years in Europe.

A 500 unit Ferrari model is different.

Right.....people act like it shouldn't be expensive to drive extremely expensive cars. Best thing to do, treat the whole thing like a loss. If you can easily stomach a $300k loss, then if you only lose $100k it's seems like a win.

In regards to resale as a buyer I would prefer to get a car I like vs. the budget version. You may not get dollar for dollar but you will get some % back and likely move your car faster. There will always be the low baller out there that will compare the price of the nicer car to the low spec one but it isn't real. I've seen this for most tFerrari models especially the limited versions.

I agree 100%. I always get all the options I want. I don't skimp there. Highly optioned cars are always more desirable then strippers and you do get some of that back (%) on resale as you said. I look at it this way. I got to enjoy those options during ownership. So it was worth the extra to me. Nothing is worse then owning a car and regretting/wishing it had this or that. Worse yet - retrofitting options (if they can be) after the fact. Done that before as well.

If you read my post, I was talking about 500-unit limited models (since the 675LT was the discussion point) which is not the case of a 488.

There were not 500 675 made. There were 1000. They introduced the coupe first and then the spider.

try here if you wanna have a discussion on depreciation. They love value threads here: www.rennlist.com
