Did not get official smog check. They read it for free. My HC was too high, so time to adjust my carbs and ensure air injection pump plumbing is working correctly. Bummer. My 308 did not run very well on initial purchase smog check. I rebuilt carbs, did major service and adjusted carbs. Need a good exhaust analyzer. Making phone calls tomorrow.
Started the new year out right with about an hour drive through the country with plenty of passing, winding roads and the car loved it almost as much as me!
A January drive is usually impossible in Canada. It's usually far below freezing. I love global warming I had a great run today, after installing these DRLs and pulled in the front bumper. Image Unavailable, Please Login
So am re-doing the “sound” in my 85 308. Got the pods and Morel 41/2 2-way speakers from Crutchfield. Had the guys hide the wires and thread them so that the connections and pods are removable for a stock look and the occasional track day. Pods will be held in place by Velcro for ease of mounting. The front door speakers will be matched Haven’t heard them in the car yet, but soon. Will test the system native with the pioneer head unit - have the option of adding a modular micro amp under the passenger seat. https://www.crutchfield.com/S-lhYxeiIGFhg/p_130AV3500/Pioneer-AVH-3500NEX.html?XVINQ=DST&XVVER=70P&awcp=1t1&awcr=386250632083&awdv=m&awkw=&awmt=b&awnw=g&awug=9031300&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI-4Dx4LeQ5wIVEfDACh0wTg83EAAYASAAEgI21PD_BwE a little bit of modern tech hidden away. Gee you're keen! I just use these when I want music or peace and quiet. Bluetooth and awesome noise cancelling. Surely there's too much NVR to ever get reasonable sound. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Winter oil change... and while I was at it, threw it up on the alignment rack for a quick toe adjustment. Steering wheel is still canted when driving straight on roads... grrr. Guess I'll recenter the wheel at some point. Image Unavailable, Please Login
You need one of these alignment systems. I have one, very fast and easy! https://www.kochachsmessanlagen.de/en/
I have had my 78 308 GTS for 2 years. I had the carbs recently tuned and realized how quick it accelerates at the low end and how slow it accelerates on the highway with the pedal to the floor. I took the airbox off and all looked good. After some additional looking....... It was the accelerator pedal stop. It only allowed 50% travel of the throttle plates. I verified using the video mode on my phone as I floored the pedal. I screwed down the stop and now full throttle opening. Now it accelerates like the other Ferraris I used to own!!!
Sounds like the carby tuner didn't do their job properly. That's one of the first things you should do.
A great idea - They would be a great option but in the US, California specifically, they can give you a nasty ticket if caught. And in a Ferrari you will be caught. LOL.
Restored my air box covers for my 360 Spider to the stock aluminum by sandblasting the old black paint off and clear coating with a high temp enamel. Now they match the airbox. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Ask the Bairnsdale guys, they'll tell you. I have to admit, they look like a fabulous idea for the drive down to the GAD.
