    My favorites are

    Ferrari 458 GT2
    Porsche 911 RSR
    Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3
    Lamborghini Huracan GT3

I've always wanted know from anyone that has experience driving these cars, how does the handling differ between the Porsche and the mid-engined cars. What's the trick to not getting the back loose.

If it's base purely on sound, it has to be the Mazda 787B Quad-Rotor as driven by Johnny
    Herbert at Le Mans.

The 4 rotors were amazing. Mazda was testing a 3 rotor over at Laguna seca. I was hoping for a 4 rotor NA Mazda sports car, but I guess emissions got the best of them....

Ferrari F2002...... the car that not only smashed the season it was designed for, but was also so full of development potential, even in a period of constant testing and innovation (unlike today’s fixed limitations and no testing) remained the class of the field having been developed to the nth degree in house at Maranello at season start. That car and Michael at the wheel were magic in motion.

The other car would be the MP4/4(?) of Ayrton Senna in 1991, a car that managed to best the superior Williams cars, a culmination of man and machine in perfect harmony to be able to achieve it

while today’s Mercedes has been the dominant car since 2014, it’s not a special car (unless you are a Mercedes fan of course) because the advantage is built in, assisted by the rules on testing and development that have strangled the sport and prevented a real challenge to be made by any other cars.

if it comes to bikes, I have a special place in my heart for the original 1986 Suzuki GSXR750 and 1100 I used to compete on. Those bikes were awesome, the speed and power of them was amazing at the time (18 years old in 87, I got pulled over by the cops, mum on the pillion, going home from racing, at a frankly obscene speed and was let off cos the cop was a bike fan! Paid to have my racing numbers left on the bike!)

  10. Sorta', get you, but, it's also sorta' special as they got it right, just as Ferrari did in the Schui "era", and have maintained that edge as did Ferrari.....
Specials and favs are (as they should be) far and few.......... :)

The RSR. What an amazing machine. The most I'll even get close to diving one is on a simulator it seems.

Yes, RIP to the great.

We need a definition of modern, most of what I'm seeing is eligible for historic racing.

For on track, in person, spectacle I love the current iteration of DPi cars. So much fun to watch and far better looking than the current WEC LMP1 cars. Let's see what WEC hypercars bring in reality, not renderings and camo jobs.

For many reasons, with production based race cars nothing touches the current Ford GT. To me it's the only true racing super car. It destroyed the chinning bar. Every other car in GTE or GTLM racing is far far more modified from it's standard form. It's also the best looking than any other mid engined car in GTLM or GT3.

If only you could make the FGT sound like the Porsche RSR it would be PERFECT

Not of the aforementioned caliber, but I absolutely loved racing my 211. Power to weight ratio (250HP, 1500 lb.) was enough for me as I didn’t want to use HP as a crutch. Relatively may be considered a momentum car which handled with arrow-like precision. Slight rear weight distribution with mid-engine layout made for some tail spins when pushing the limits but when exiting with the fastest corner speed, felt sublime.
