BAck to Fav. I never liekd they guy, never have and never will, but as other have pointed out he was, in his era, effective. My question is for those who know more about him, would his ability and style work today if he was just coming into F1? When he arrived in F1 it was very very different to today. It was towards the end of fast and loose era. Look at the number of shady characters and seriously shady sponsors and sponsorship deals that were going on up and down the grid. That was the era of David Thieme, Van Rossem, Sassetti etc. He thrived back then, would he have even got in the door today?
Good question though there are still crooks occasionally like the fake who was going to sponsor "Lotus" (which became the current Renault) a few years ago.he strung Lopez, Boullier and co along for the longest time...
His is one of the few names "circled" in Epstein's black book. Maybe Epstein was an F1 fan... https://www.reddit.com/r/conspiracy/comments/cc5auf/1st_name_circled_in_epsteins_black_book_is_flavio/
I am old fashion and prefer to stick to racing; a frivilous sideshow does nothing to improve the quality.
You only have to look sideways at Moto GP Great racing plus lots of eye candy on/off track...whats not to like?
Well, nowadays it is considered discrimination if there are only beautiful grid girls: you have to have a fatty, a trans-woman, a trans-man, a fluid-gender, etc.,etc. I have partially watched two races on TV but beauty is not their forte.
of course a character like Flavio could make it in F1 today, nothing has changed much....was it Caterham that had 3 or 4 drivers signed to contract at the start of one year? Do we have tracks that don't have enough money? Did Force India kind of go bankrupt in the middle of the season recently? How'd that Rich Energy deal with Haas work out mid season way back in 2019? Do celebrities manage to screw up waving the checkered flag in an actual race? That's a few examples anyway!
I was in Tramp nighclub in London in 1999. Flavio was there and ordered a huge bottle of champagne and proceeded to spray everyone in the room. It was really funny. I got soaked, and beautiful women were everywhere. It was a fun night--but then again, I was 20 years younger.
Love him or hate him Flavio Briatore came into F1 as a total outsider (not a racing person) and it annoyed the establishment that he was as successful as he was. For me he was a larger than life character that did not adhere to convention but delivered results. My favorite was him docking Jean Alesi 1/16th of his pay (one race worth) for ignoring pit signals and running out of fuel in Australia. Back in 2006 I had my stag party in Indy where a group of us rented a van, drove down, and had a fun weekend away. Having dinner one night we spot Flavio outside our restaurant and went to have a word with him. He wished me luck in my upcoming marriage and was gracious and approachable. I'm not sure I'd want to go into business with him but that night he was a star. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Briatore warned Alonso that Hamilton was in Dennis' "pocket" Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/briatore-warned-alonso-mclaren-hamilton/4773558/ https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/148807/briatore-warned-alonso-about-joining-mclaren-in-2007
Coming to McLaren with 2 titles under his belt, Alonso expected some priority in the team, and not to be challenged by a rookie. He had completely misread the situation, and Briatore was right.
