Deferred maintenance will reduce my offer for a car every time. The same goes for a "quickie major" a seller does before selling to up the asking price. If I don't know and trust the shop and tech that did the "quickie major" I won't pay for it in my buying price because I will have the work done again in the fashion I expect from a shop I trust.
Some Good cars coming up for auction week coming up. should perform better than the one on BAT today (https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1987-ferrari-testarossa-14/) Here are some coming up next week/This week: https://rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/az20/arizona/lots/r0055-1987-ferrari-testarossa/836665 https://www.goodingco.com/vehicle/1988-ferrari-testarossa/ https://russoandsteele.com/vehicle-details/?show_vehicle=175310¤t_index=0&total_results=2&tsauction_id=204&=&caryear=0&caryearto=0&search_text=testarossa&page=featured&showpage=1 (currently on Autotrader as well ) https://russoandsteele.com/vehicle-details/?show_vehicle=174853¤t_index=1&total_results=2&tsauction_id=204&=&caryear=0&caryearto=0&search_text=testarossa&page=featured&showpage=1 (advertised on the chat here)
Couple more at Barret Jackson as well" https://www.barrett-jackson.com/Events/Event/Details/1989-FERRARI-TESTAROSSA-238279 https://www.barrett-jackson.com/Events/Event/Details/1987-FERRARI-TESTAROSSA-237211
Quite a lot less than those listed on Hemmings. But it has been repainted has 45000 miles and last engine out 5 years ago.
It is not a bad price IMO. The car had some work to be done like u pointed out. Cool profile picture !
I gotta admit .....that TWO OWNER white on white ‘88.5 TR at Gooding is pretty damn tempting!!! rare color combo
I would not want a repainted Ferrari of any type. Glasurite for the TR and 512 was extremely durable and it would be extremely rare that the paint go bad.
Horses for courses. Most Ferrari people insist on perfection which makes me wonder if there’s an opportunity for people who are quite happy with a ‘driver’? Not saying this car is that necessarily but if a respray is done well then why not?
Looks like the buyer said it was his first time buying at auction. It also seems that he wasnt very much aware of maintenance cost. This car will cost him 82k with the fees. It has a respray, it needs a major so safe to say he has a looming bill of likely at least 10-15k which for 97k this is pwithin pricing range of that wonderful TR advertised in the classifields with 11k miles, that used to belong to bo jackson and had its major 3 years ago ANd only 2 owners...
Au contraire, mon frère. Completely 100% boneless with a Ferrari under it for 28 years. Two things you don't have going for you!!!
Lol! I’ve actually had my oldest Ferrari for 32 years! Not quite as long as you’ve had the bones, I’m sure! Lol!
