Quite a bit different, the F40 has the same feel, once warmed it’s a precision instrument for drivers.

Very nice and well made, but that is what to expect from Petrolicious. From seeing this video it arouse few questions. Does the sidevents feed the cool air for the intercoolers or if not, where do they get the cooling? What are the yellow lights that can be seen on 7 minute mark?

    Cheers and thank you.

Edit. sidenote, ADC seems to be wearing the same Speedmaster he wore when the Spitfire made him curse.

Much different and much better. We have a TR with the same transmission as a Boxer and they are very truck like compared to a GTO.

The side vents feed a large duct that is attached to the bottom of the charge coolers. Air exits the louvers in the hood.

I drove a TR when they were new and I thought the gearbox was the car's achilles heel, in the GTO I think it is an asset.

We know of ways to make them work somewhat better than when they rolled out of Maranello but they are fragile so in a very real way they are still an Achilles heal.

Did they paint the inside of the transmission case on the GTO?

With a zinc chromate type paint. Why? That quote of mine was referring to TR transaxles.

Castings are most often painted internally to stick in place any casting sand that might have been missed during cleaning, prior to machining. Not to prevent leaks. It is an age old tradition in the auto industry. In the old days many companies used red lead.

I have seen it done to prevent leaks. Not very effective.

Very interesting details about the casting.
To digress slightly what caused the transmission to lock up on the 1991 F40 models?

In all my experience of specializing in and owning 3 personal F40s over the past few decades including a 1991, I have never heard of this.
