An interesting Bonhams Sale in Belgium is coming up, next week, 11th of October. Tradionally, it's held during the week of the Zoute Grand Prix,at Belgium's posh coast city, Knokke. An international topclass oldtimer event, supported by the most prestigious car brands. Anybody travelling through the north of France, through Belgium or Holland should try and visit this fantastic event.

Pinnacle of the sale is without any doubt this breathtaking 275 GTB/2 Alloy Long Nose (if you order the sale catalog, it comes with a separate booklet about this very special Ferrari!):

    275 GTB 3 Carb Alloy 08061.

    From the Bonham's description:

"Despite its near-perfect appearance, revisions to the original 275GTB were not long in coming: a longer nose, enlarged rear window, and external boot hinges being introduced towards the end of 1965. Mechanically the only major change was the adoption of torque tube enclosure for the prop shaft., replacing the sometimes troublesome open shaft."

From the above description you'd think this car would have the desirable Torque Tube. However, it's too early in the production of the Long Nose 275 GTB, and will have the "Interim" Drive Shaft with CV Joints. The Torque Tube came later in 1966.

Not trying to be negative about the car, but Ferrari Classiche Certification will be void with all the mods and will need a full re-inspection, with the Classiche Attestation process starting from scratch, if the original components are reinstalled. NB the outside filler cap plus the filler in the boot.

What does this mean on the1965 Ferrari 275 GTB/2 Alloy Long-Nose?

"Its current specification includes a Roelofs Engineering engine equipped with six Weber carburettors."

And is the upgraded braking system an issue in any way?

Thanks for posting. It's a beautiful car.

The car currently has a non original replica spare engine installed that was made by Roelofs Engineering in Holland with 6 Weber carburettor set up. It is described as matching numbers, and there is a picture of the 08061 engine stamp, so I would assume that the original Ferrari engine comes with the car, although the description does not say this, but does include the 3 Original 40 Weber carburettors in the list of spares.

The upgraded braking system would be an issue if you want your Ferrari to be original specification and Classiche Certified.

Surely the 6.5" x14" wheels are Campagnolo, not Cromodora as stated?

What is the value of an alloy long nose?
