Like it or not, politics is bad for the business of sports. Personally I despise the thugs. They make me sick. But between gambling and fantasy football, which I don’t do, I watch the game because I like the game, there are enough fans who overlook the thugs for personal reasons. Hypocritical, but it is a reality. The NFL is in the entertainment business, and the owners make a LOT of money, most of which is sheltered from taxes. If some nitwit threatens their honey pot by bringing politics into the game, well...

So in other words, you and I both agree that it's all about and nothing but about the money for the NFL, even if morals and ethics are compromised.

Was there ever any doubt? There’s a reason Billionaires spend big bucks to buy a team, and it’s not for the love of the game. Huge cash flow and, in some cases, tax losses. Generally, the best case for an owner is to lose in the first round of the playoffs, no later than the second.

I think we are going to see a transition in NFL QB's go to players like Wilson, Prescott, Mayfield, Mahomes, Wentz, Jackson, guys that
are not necessarily 'running QB's', but guys that can roll out in a hurry with the RPO, but still throw very accurately.

I think we will start seeing LESS 'standup' guys like Brady, Ben, Flacco, Rosen, Rivers, Carr, Manning, and so on.

I am not so sure having a jewish QB (or player) will make much of a dent in attendance at any event,
    let alone raise viewership.
And the fact that Edelman plays for a jewish owner that seriously practices it cannot hurt.

Anymore, ANY pro athlete can 'live the life' - for awhile.

Mike, I think it all depends on how good the player is. If the player is marginal, e.g. Ray Rice, Kap, then there's no compelling reason to take the heat. If the player is exceptionally good, e.g. Ray Lewis, Kareem Hunt or Greg Hardy, he'll get a pass from the team and they'll put their PR team to work.

This is cynical but correct IMO.
The 2013-4 version of Colin gets a lot more leeway than the 2016 variant.

I didn't mean it to be cynical Tom. It just seems to be a fact of life in the NFL. An owner/team will put up with just about anything if the player is that important to them.

Not to pick on your team's owner, but I thought taking on Greg Hardy was irresponsible. I believe in giving guys second chances, but right from the get go this guy clearly was not remorseful for what he had done. I felt badly for Ray Rice because I thought he was genuinely remorseful. Unfortunately he wasn't the player he once was and no team apparently thought it was worth the grief to pick him up.

I should have been clearer, I was referring to the NFL's attitude being cynical. Totally agree on Greg Hardy. Not one of the times I've been proud to be a Cowboys fan...T

You better hope he wasn't caught in tape saying un-patriotic things, or he'll be kicked out of the NFL!

Reportedly the tape shows he did not have sexual intercourse, so it was either a manual or oral happy ending. :D

Only bigger name in the NFL than Kraft is JJ! Maybe TB12?!?

I'm just glad for once that the first person arrested in the off-season isn't a Cowboy!

Thanks, Paul, even my wife laughed at that joke and she's a tough audience!

How's the coverage of the Kraft arrest going up there? I'm betting it's a circus.

Oh it is a circus all right. Tons of media coverage except for one of the sports talk radio stations. They do the Pats games and management put an embargo on the hosts not to talk about it or take any calls from listeners who want to talk about it.

The feeling among my friends (and we've been texting non-stop) is basically one of embarrassment. We have no problem that he wants to have sex, he's a single man. And we're sure he had no idea about the condition of those women. However, with his money he goes to a strip mall and pays $59! WTF? We all agree with 6+ billion in the bank, we'd have a penthouse at The Breakers and have a high class call girl. Sigh ....... I wish. :D
